Another week full of improvements at Sunset! I finally finished the laborious process of going through every damned box in the garage to figure out what was in it, who it belonged to, and what to do with it; since our garage is huge (the previous owner used it as storage space for a small-scale lumber mill) it held a lot of stuff. But all that has now been properly dealt with, so we can use the space as we please (such as parking in it or receiving deliveries of large items such as construction supplies). I did find a few treasures, though, including a stash of old photos which have been sealed up in a box since 2002; I’ll share a few good selections with y’all as soon as I get time to go through them. I also finished reorganizing my CD collection on the top level of the bookshelves, helped Grace design the movie shelving, and built it; since Jae finished staining the shelving for DVDs of TV series, I was able to move my collection there from the closet space it has resided in for two years. As you can see, the shelves on the left were still open when I took this picture on Sunday night; it’ll house the tail end of our combined movie collections. And speaking of combined collections, the resolution on this pic is high enough for you to read most of the titles; it may amuse you to guess which are mine and which Grace’s.

Great selection! I assume all of the science fiction (particularly Star Trek) and the He-Man collection are yours. Correct?
I also would be remiss to not recommend the amazing Young Justice series to whoever liked the Justice League. Young Justice focuses on the sideki…ahem, I mean partners of the Justice League and their epic adventures. It is set in a different universe but it’s much more character driven, much more refined, elegant, polished and AWESOME!!!
Although, I am surprised to not see a collection of Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Angel in the bookshelf.
Most of the Trek belongs to both of us, except for Voyager. Buffy came on after I stopped watching network TV; I’ve never seen it.
I see that Danger Man is using the original British title, rather than the American one. But I assume it is a Region 1 version for North American screens, right? Or do you have a European DVD player and TV for it?
I was really stunned by the lack of any Doctor Who.
The original half-hour series of Danger Man was never broadcast in the US. And the BBC priced Doctor Who out of my range with their greedy packaging of it by story rather than by season. However, I gave Lorelei a complete set of Classic Who bootlegs for Christmas a few years ago.
I know what you mean about Doctor Who. But last I saw, you can get big sets of the modern series at Wal-Mart for around $25 (that was the price here– might be higher in Washington). They’ve got all of the Eccleston and Tennant episodes in one set, Matt Smith in another, and Capaldi in the third set. I bought all three last year.
But I’ve only seen Whittaker available in half-season sets, or individual episodes. And only individual stories for the Classic ones.
More recently at Wal-Mart, I’ve bought Twin Peaks, with the two original seasons and the recent third one, but not the movie, unfortunately. I think it was around $30. And I found Roots for $10. Just in case you’d be interested in those.
