Even if I have lost some important parts of my body, I still want to get rich. – Chamangeni Zulu
I’m grateful for these quiet weeks we’ve had lately; they’ve allowed me to get boring-but-necessary business stuff done for setting up my company and my tour. Pretty soon, you should start seeing new things populating the tour calendar, but if you’re in east Texas toward the end of next week I would like to see you at my book signing in Fairfield. And if you don’t live near any of my planned stops, don’t forget you can get an autographed copy by mail. This week’s top contributor was Jesse Walker, with the first video and everything above it; those between the videos are from Marc Randazza (“legit”), Mike Siegel (“headline”), Radley Balko (“gag”), Clarissa (“Satanic”), Police Misconduct (“driveway”), and Thaddeus Russell (“blasphemy”).

Adam Weinstein (of Gawker) needs to be told to put on his dunce cap and stand in the corner with Cardinal Richelieu, Joseph Stalin, and the rest of the religious bigots.
The problem is … there is nothing scientific about “consensus”. At one point … all scientists believed the Earth was flat – the scientific evidence, ergo – science, eventually proved that “consensus” wrong. For a more recent example – all of these “scientists” screeching about CO2 causing “warming” – were in near perfect “consensus” 40 years ago that it was causing “cooling”. Their “consensus” was wrong.
Science is about FACTS … and no one who believes in science “settling things” would ever use “consensus” as a measure of “truth”. The scientific fact is – their models – and their predictions – have been WRONG. The polar ice cap is supposed be GONE now – it is not (I go to the Arctic at least once every two years and I have seen it for myself – it IS still there. In fact, didn’t we just recently have to RESCUE a group of “Climate Scientists” from polar ICE? Hilarious!). The Earth has not warmed for the last 17 years and we’ve caught “Climate Scientists” actively attempting to “hide the decline” and working to obfuscate the investigations of other, more skeptical scientists by refusing to release data on studies (paid for with public monies).
And yet – those scientists who use un-scientific methods such as exaggeration; chicken-little predictions of global disaster within a very few years; and those who obfuscate and misrepresent the data are hailed as “heroes” by the left when they are caught red-handed in the acts of their lies.
I am not a scientist – but I have a highly calibrated BULLSHIT DETECTOR and I can tell the difference between SCIENCE and RELIGION – and, unfortunately – the people on the left screaming about this are more akin to RELIGIONISTS – because they are demanding that we take their word ON FAITH. Sorry, t’aint happening.
So now they want to JAIL those of us who still use our MINDS and LOGIC? You can’t make this shit up! They are suggesting an “inquisition” on those who think differently and aren’t convinced.
This is supposed to be the “scientifically enlightened” crowd? No – it’s more like any other religion on the planet.
Climate Change – is a dead issue – it’s one of those things that has progressed “over the course of a disease” and we’re coming out of it. Yes, the twitching of the body will go on for quite some time – but no real changes are going to be made to combat CO2 emissions because nations are not going to commit economic suicide and plunge their citizens back into the dark age based on a “scientific creed” that can’t get it’s act together and produce a workable model.
It a’int happening.
So I would suggest that all the “alarmists” pack up and go home – and do something more productive – like MASTURBATE.
” At one point … all scientists believed the Earth was flat…”
No they didn’t; this is a myth.
And as for climate change; suppose you are wrong. By the time you recognise your error, it may well be too late.
You completely missed the point of my post, Korhomme.
The point is the METHODS you guys are using to sell Climate Change – and how fascist and dishonest they are.
Address that.
As far as the debate on Climate Change – as I said … masturbation is a more productive effort. What I’m NOT wrong about is the fact that the disease has run it’s course – and unless you guys come up with some reasonable predictions and models that WORK – you are not going to convince the worlds billions to follow you off the cliff of economic suicide.
There are certain laws that we can’t ignore – one is the fact that when you throw something up in the air it’s going to come back down. Another is the fact that humans will never make the kind of economic and standard of living changes you’re asking until they SEE the danger – and by then it will be too late. Even if you’re right – you’re just wasting your time on this.
I recommend you sit back – relax – and if the “apocalypse” comes to pass – you can gloat then. Tell the rest of us we were fools. It’s the best you an do.
Krulac, I’m well aware of your position on climate, and I don’t think I want to debate further. I don’t think we’ll ever meet one another even half-way.
There has always been climate change; the question now is, is it natural or man-made?
The problem is that, historically, the “give the State a lot of authority and suppress dissenters” pattern has caused a lot more deaths than can be traced to human-generated climate change. When somebody – even somebody whose basic premise I agree with – proposes that people who disagree with them be silenced, I begin to think dark thoughts about pogroms.
The proponents of climate change have blotted their copybooks badly, several times. Additionally, several of their proposals, when implemented, have proven problematic. The widespread environmental disruptions caused by the fashion for ethanol spring to mind.
Make your case. Don’t fake your data, or hide it. Do. The. Math on fashionable “solutions” like wind-power or electric cars (just where are wqe going to get the electricity too charge enough such cars to matter?).
And DON’T CALL FOR SUPPRESSION OF DISSENT. If the “deniers” are full of it, prove that. Don’t attack their character, or their sources of funding; attack their math, or their data.
Or I won’t believe you.
Precisely … it’s the number one operating rule in my bullshit detector. People WITH a case – MAKE IT. People don’t have a case – turn up the volume, yell and scream, pound the table and make threats.
I respond to RATIONAL arguments and there is an absolute silence on the side of the Church of Global Warming when it comes to getting a handle on the “gorillas” on their side who use dubious tactics to advance … “the cause”.
And this professor IS NOT the first to call for direct action against skeptics – this is OLD NEWS and has been happening a lot. Here’s an NYT cartoon from this year …
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/jack-coleman/2014/02/23/ny-times-cartoon-suggests-climate-change-deniers-should-be-stabbed-dea
Skeptics are being PURGED from the scientific community – you cannot find a skeptic working in NASA anymore – they’ve all been fired.
Sorry man – but alpha male that I am … you can count me with the “deniers” and come and take my ass – I WILL NOT be intimidated. Ditto for most of my fellow skeptics.
The case has been made. There are a few people, with a stake on continuing to pump carbon into the air, such as oil and coal company executives, who wish it other wise, and their ill-informed followers, who wish to pretend there’s still a debate, while presenting their side, with facts a dodgy as those on trafficking. It’s like the creationists.
The know-nothings should not be allowed to detract from addressing the issue. They shouldn’t be suppressed, but exposed for the liars they are, or ignored.
I don’t want to debate it either. My position is … the debate is irrelevant.
If you want that illustrated – just look at Ukraine. Now that they’ve broken with Russia – the Russians have decided to raise the price of gas sold to the Ukraine by over 80%. That’s enough to throw the whole Ukrainian economy over the cliff.
The Ukrainians are now making plans to ramp up their coal efforts. Coal is one of the most harmful producers of “greenhouse gasses” – according to “climate scientists.”
But the Ukrainians aren’t blinking – no one over there is saying … “Er, what about Global Warming? We’re sure gonna fuck that with this coal thingie”. No – they aren’t saying that – they aren’t even thinking about it – because they are on the verge of economic collapse.
That’s a microcosm of just how irrelevant the Global Warming debate is – and it illustrates my point perfectly. When the rubber hits the road – people and nations are more concerned about the DANGERS they see in the short term rather than questionable “predictions” of long-term disaster. They will always act in their short-term interest when it comes to survival.
And – you guys have always said – that waiting until the real effects of Global Warming appear will be too late. Yet – nothing is going to be done UNTIL that point – when it’s too late (according to your side). So what’s the point of the argument at all other than an intellectual exercise? Even if you’re right – it won’t produce the outcome you wish for.
The sun will go out one day … by damn, shouldn’t we be investing in space programs so we can find another planet and move the human population of Earth to it? Why the hell has Obama gutted the space program to the point that the US has to use the Russians to get into outer space (and isn’t that kind of fucked now with developments in Ukraine?). The fact is – the sun going out is way in the future – and we have other more pressing concerns now and so nobody’s gonna run around and say we have to make a plan for when the sun explodes.
And that’s the paradigm the Global Warming debate is locked in – and you will never escape it.
If I’m not debating, it isn’t because I can’t. Krulac and I have very differing views on climate, and neither of us is likely to convince the other; it will end up with points scoring and hostilities.
I’ve been a member of the GetDPI Photography Forum (http://forum.getdpi.com/forum/) from its start. It must be one of the best forums for photography discussions, with people who know about things, real experts if you like. One of the ground rules is to think of the discussions as what would happen round the dinner table; so, no trolling, no flaming or anything else nasty; it’s a really civilized place. I try to be like that elsewhere.
Is this really the place to discuss/argue whether climate change is real or not?
Sorry if I sound like a pretentious Presbyterian prig…
I’m not offended and I hope that I haven’t offended you. There’s no way we’ll agree on the nature of Climate Change. But one thing I would THINK you would agree with me on is human nature – and that fact that even if you’re right – nothing substantial will be done about climate change. How many die-hards exist that are willing to drive tiny electric cars with numerous problems, limited range, and suck-ass acceleration? There just aren’t enough people out there willing to go to mat with their quality of life to make a change – so it’s a useless discussion.
Hell, even your own side is unwilling to expand nuclear power – the cleanest source of EFFICIENT power we have because they’re afraid of it. They fear nuclear power more than they do climate change so what kind of message is that supposed to send the rest of us? If you guys aren’t willing to risk expanding nuke power – then climate change must not be that big of a deal.
But it’s all a useless debate.
It’s like the debt – over $17 Trillion in the U.S. and climbing – and we don’t even have enough “rich folks” to confiscate everything they have to pay it off. We’re headed for a collapse eventually – but do I debate it with anyone? Hell no, it’s as useless as the climate debate. Americans aren’t going to give up their Social Security and welfare programs to do something about it. Again – human nature. I don’t advocate jailing “debt-deniers”, or killing them though.
If you’ll pardon my interjection, but unless I’ve misinterpreted your posts you are angry with Mr. Weinstein’s article?
If so, what’s the point? You’ve stated, quite eloquently I might add, that there’s really no debate to be had here. To me, it’s a foolish article (sorry, a “rant”) by an internet “journalist” that will most likely go no farther than Gawker’s archive. He doesn’t even have an original idea, instead he’s regurgitating some daft proposal by some Princeton professor.

I find those automata just wonderful, and so inventive. I’m not so impressed with the baroque styling, though.
