Diary #742

Apparently, the weird weather conditions this year favored certain areas of my property over others; though the blackberry vines which usually yield the best fruit produced little but small berries that were neither very sweet nor very juicy, the vines I typically ignore because they don’t produce well were the fruitful ones this year!  I reckon it has to do with vines that usually get enough sun suffering from the gloom, while those which usually get too much were just right this year.  Alas, there aren’t as many vines in this year’s Goldilocks zone, so this was about all I could get, but they were sweet and juicy and I made a couple of loaves of blackberry bread with them, and had some left over to eat with condensed milk.  We haven’t had many apples yet, but we still have a few weeks; I’m hoping to get enough to make a couple of quarts of mincemeat, and perhaps enough for a few pies.  And I’ve got an excellent idea for using my cherry tomatoes, which I’m going to have plenty of; I’ll show you in the next couple of weeks.
