We will embrace you in uniform today, we will embrace you without uniform tomorrow. – Josephus Daniels (U.S. Secretary of the Navy) to a group of woman Marines, 1919
Happy Birthday, Devil Dogs! As I explained in my column of one year ago today,
On November 10th, 1775 the Second Continental Congress ordered Captain Samuel Nicholas to raise two battalions of marines, and he began that task by holding a recruitment meeting at Tun Tavern in Philadelphia. The organization which resulted, the Continental Marines, was later reorganized into the United States Marine Corps, so Marines consider Tun Tavern to be the birthplace of the Corps and November 10th to be its birthday.
In that column I also explained that I’m very partial to military men in general and Marines in particular, and I mean that both personally and professionally; you’d be hard-pressed to find a proper whore who didn’t count military men as among our favorite customers, not only because of their dependability but because, as Amanda Brooks pointed out in a comment to last year’s column, “They’re respectful, condom-friendly, no-attitude and just terrific fun in bed.”
And that’s what makes the Bush administration’s anti-prostitution policy, foisted on the military under the excuse of “combating human trafficking” and continued by Obama, to be so deeply insulting. It is nothing less than a vicious betrayal of a millennia-old relationship between two professions, a sacrifice of the needs and welfare of tens of thousands of men and women on the filthy altar of political correctness. U.S. military personnel are now required to attend propaganda sessions full of lies, exaggerations, spurious associations and tortured logic in the hopes of tricking them into believing the prostitution equivalent of “Every time you masturbate, God kills a kitten.” It’s unlikely these brainwashing programs are any more successful in the long run than any other neofeminist-approved mental-castration scheme, but even if they succeed in introducing guilt or doubt over a normal, healthy sexual activity and mutually-agreeable business transaction, that’s damage enough.
Besides last year’s column, I’ve touched on the interaction between whores and the military in a number of columns; this list includes previous instances where that interaction was less than ideal or even severely exploitative, including previous attempts by prudish military officials to restrict or abolish prostitution.

I’m very pleased that, in the year since the last USMC birthday, a number of military men have discovered this blog and are numbered among my regular readers and commenters. Hang in there, guys; don’t ever let the social engineers break your spirit, and know that the whores of the world appreciate you for being men and wouldn’t want you any other way. And though your government has abandoned any concern for your sanity, self-esteem and sexual health, you may take comfort in the fact that ethical harlots remain, in our own unique way, always faithful.
Best post ever Maggie!
Happy Birthday Marines!
I always wanted to be a Marine Scout Sniper – but a Navy guy convinced me to become a Submariner instead because I would be more “employable” if I decided to leave the service. Towards the end of my career, things got a little crazy and so I found myself off of 688 class subs and operating a helicopter door gun and M-14 for combat support in inserting small Marine RECON teams into Afghanistan and Iraq.
It was the first time I worked closely with Marines in this manner, though I did a stint at the White House in the early ‘90s and got to know a lot of the Marines there. These were the most professional men I ever worked with – and their courage inspired me. Not all of them made it back out of the fight – and my heart bleeds today for those Marines – they were better men than I.
When we talk about all the politically correct bullshit the government puts military folks though – I can tell you that, on an Aegis Cruiser with a “mixed gender” crew – we could deal with that stuff – we had enough slack in the system to deal with bullshit. I just don’t know how the bullet catching grunts in the Marines deal with this stuff though – they don’t have the luxury of “slack” – every day is a day they’re getting shot at.
But, to quote (former Marine) Lee Ermey … “The Marines will be here forever”.
I don’t think all these politicians and political correctness will be.
Happy Birthday Marines!
PS: I’ll share this little anecdote from the day the Marine RECON unit showed up on my ship in the North Arabian Sea. My Chief Gunner’s Mate … who’s first name was “Dave” came running into my office on the ship. Dave was a small man – about 5’4″ and what I would call a “pretty boy” … he had a whole “shower and beautification” routine each morning that was hilarious to watch. He always smelled like cologne – perfectly groomed – ironic for a Gunner’s Mate. Anyway Dave ran into my office and cried …
“Master Chief – those Marines have GUNS … LOADED GUNS … they’re all over the ship – on the fantail – in the bunkrooms!’
I said … “So what Dave?”
“So what??? Master Chief – it’s illegal to run around the ship with a loaded gun for no reason!”
I thought about it for a second and I said … “Dave, I think you are right … I think you, as the Chief Gunner’s Mate of this ship, should go to those Marines and take their weapons from them! Have fun with that!”
LOL – Dave just stormed out of my office … shaking his head!
… I also explained that I’m very partial to military men in general and Marines in particular, and I mean that both personally and professionally; you’d be hard-pressed to find a proper whore who didn’t count military men as among our favorite customers, not only because of their dependability but because, as Amanda Brooks pointed out in a comment to last year’s column, “They’re respectful, condom-friendly, no-attitude and just terrific fun in bed.”
Didn’t want to be a marine before reading this.
But Maggie! Didn’t you know The Truth!? That all sexual favours paid for by cash is by definition “rape” especially since our Marxist overlords knew that all cash signifies a symbol of Absolute Power and Ownership. I can;t believe you would support the next Abu Ghraib (or something) just so our proud forces could indulge in their base instincts!
[/sarcasm]
Military! Yay. I made a video with military people and dogs and it’s awesome (i’m so humble!) and I wonder sometimes if any of the people who watched it notice my user name, and if so, what they think of that. I guess I hope a little bit that if they do notice it might help them question their assumptions, that is if they have them…
Another on-target column.
Dean Clark (US Army, 1966-69)
Well, Maggie, our militaries are betrayed every time they are sent overseas to do the bidding of multi-national corporations instead of protecting our borders against invasion, illegals, and terrorists. Not to mention that military personnel are betrayed when they become veterans and have a 1-3 chance of becoming homeless. I mean, how hard can it be to provide barracks for veterans?
Sooooo, no surprise that they are filling military heads with crap about prostitution.
While I am not with the military anymore, and also was not in the states but in germany, I gotta say: Thank you for this!
Curiously, or, naturally, there were always brothels near any base I was stationed in.
Where I had bootcamp, soldiers even got a 10% discount on everything in the city – including the brothel.
Always curious: In Germany, the general populace has a low opinion of soldiers, while whores are socially accepted. Getting a discount for anything due to being a soldier is an extreme exception – wich is whyI mentioned it above.
In the states I ran into military discounts all the time, and while soldiers are held in relatively high regard – whores are not.
I wonder how people rationalize:
“Soldiers go bad places. We entrust them with power over life and death, power over our security. We trust them to not opress people abroad, to not kill innocents – but having them be with a whore? We can’t have men putting their lifes on the line in some sandpit at the end of the world and also have sex! No way!”
I am baffled so often 😀
The sad thing is, for thousands of years, Royalty has tried to live up to a certain “chaste” standard and failed. Same with politicians and Presidents.
But we now ENFORCE that chaste standard on military members using tools like the UCMJ, NJP, etc …
Captain Owen Honors … was the Executive Officer of the USS ENTERPRISE in 2006-2007. He had a stellar record and was an exemplary leader. He was a Bronze Star recipient, and he commanded the Naval force that when to Georgia when the Russians invaded.
He then went back to the USS ENTERPRISE as her Commanding Officer. As usual, under his leadership the crew performed WELL ABOVE average and those Sailors, even today – will tell you what a tremendously great man he was – but, they’ll do it only in a whisper. That’s because Capt. Honors was relieved of duty this year – for videos he produced and showed to the crew (including an Admiral and at least six other officers senior to him at that time).
Those video’s were nothing more than “Saturday Night Humor”, which he used to train the crew in a fun way on water conservation, STD prevention, damage control – and other issues the XO is responsible for training the crew on. Mind you – all this happened in 2006 / 07 … but the videos were leaked to a Virginia new agency this year – and, the Navy didn’t have the courage to tell America that Sailors are grown adults – and are big enough to handle mature humor.
Sad – and disgusting. He is a war hero too.
A damn shame.
The French Foreign Legion had “BMCs”… Bordels Militaires Campaignes, or something like that; my French is…weak, at best. Those were brothels set up by the military itself, with workers that got inspected regularly for disease. That way their guys could have sex without the chance of getting knocked over the head and dumped somewhere. ISTR reading that the WWII German military also had something of the sort, although the source (a Sven Hassel novel) is not terribly reliable.
As a former memebr of the military, I couldn’t agree more. The problem with the military these days is it’s become overly politicized, overly bueracratized, overly (neo)feminized, and overly affirmative actioned. Now they are going to let homosexuals serve openly, and they probabaly have no better idea of how to incorporate them than they did the women, and so things will be swept under the rug. As I’ve said before, I’ve found military women to be by far more anti-prostitution on average than military men. Why should women care as they can get sex whenever they want while the men go hungry so to speak. For the women be they civilian or military, it’s about killing the competition which are the whores because even the mere presence of whores makes men into less of beggars in regards to women even if such said men never want to use that option. The men who are anti-prostitution are either fundamentalist religious or (neo)feminist moral morons or control freaks who don’t know how to respect other people’s beliefs and actions as long as it hurts noone, and they insist unjustly that they have a right to interfere in another’s private business. They are also often men who have never truly had to suffer without sex as much and don’t care that other men do.. I find that these people are being hypocrites when they say they want to help people and they really love to hurt people for no good reasons. They mask it with concerns over STDs, trafficing etc.
In any argument over legalizing or decriminalizing prostitution, some guy will huffily declare, “I never had to pay for it!”
My reply to this is, “Good for you, Stud-muffin. But have a little compassion for those of us who aren’t Adonis, would you?”
I believe no one should ever have to pay a cent for sex. ###*** the Adonis thing. I had some sex only friends that I was less attracted to physically than others. The sex with them was still good. It took me a lot of years to admit that.
If more women were like you, more men would be stud-muffins.
Who else lets me grope her at the train station? 😉
Blossom would have let you… 😉 …that was fun…I’m glad it was the middle of the day because if there’d been more people around you wouldn’t have been able to write this comment…lol.
Yes, but Blossom was a slut. 😉
And sometimes, I do miss Blossom, and Pumpkin before her.
MEOW!
As examples of what I wrote above, you’ll find many women who will get pregnant before the deployment and will not waive they’re right to remain at home for six months after the baby is born. Men never have that option. Many parents will drop their Tricare medical insurance on their children and so they get to leave the Army with at least a General Discharge if not a Honorable Discharge, and not a Less than Honorable, Bad Conduct or Dishonorable Discharge. Women in my personal experience do this a higher percentage of the time than men. Single Soldiers are stuck. Fornication is still against the UCMJ, but if a soldier impregnates someone or gets impregnated benefits such as healthcare,, housing stipends and stipends to support the children, and I’ve never heard of such soldiers recieving as much as a nonjudicial punishment called an article 15 even though these people weren’t married and they are costing the military money. Yet the military will ruthlessly destroy Soldiers who are caught screwing prostitutes even if they did not catch a STD and wore condoms. They will even do so if a Soldier is caught with porn on his personal computer in Iraq and Afghanistan.
I agree with a lot of what you say … but I also knew a brave young woman who gave her life while guarding a checkpoint in Iraq. She died in a suicide bombing when a car filled with explosives drove up to her checkpoint.
So yeah – while some women work the system – there are others out there who work damned hard for us.
It’s very hard for me to deal, particularly with her death. If I were a dictator – women would not be in these kinds of “pseudo-combat” roles. I’m sorry, but very few of them are big enough to handle the bad guys in a “one on one”. And, women suffer in particularly harsh ways in these roles. Few people know this – but all of the females captured by the Iraqis in the first Gulf War were raped. They don’t talk about it – and the media doesn’t publicize it because they know it might turn public opinion against putting women in these kinds of roles.
So while I don’t agree with having them on the front lines – I certainly admire the women who volunteer to go there.
Their numbers are few and far between in my personal experience. Out of 14 women I knew eho knew that they were gonna be deployed within 2 years time, 12 got themselves pregnant and did not go on deployment. Naturally, some other popr bastard had to pick up the slack.
Women with the military in general always seem to be working the system. I recall half a dozen who were physically fit enough to keep up with the men – and two dozen who couldn’t. The sad part is: The lazy bitches ruin the rep of those girls who truly push themselves.
Equal rights should always translate into equal responsibilities and the need for equal performance, no excuses.
Just the thought of landwhales making officer simply due to unfulfilled womens-quotae makes my stomache ache 🙁
Yes, there are brave young women in the military, and I would never dispute that. Women say they want equality, and I’m all for it. Women are necessary now because who else will search the female suicide bombers the enemy uses in Afghanistan and Iraq before it’s too late is a great example. I’m all for equality with no excuses which is what society and the military make for women.
Most women rightly recognize that it’s difficult for them to get the top positions or status in the civilian or military world, the so called glass ceiling. What most women never seem to realize is that there is a glass floor which they aren’t allowed to fall through as much as men either. For all their complaining about the glass ceiling, few will acknowledge much less be grateful for the glass floor. Women have a tendency to only look at the male winners of society and seldom the male losers. there are many more losers than winners in any society. Many think it’s a privledge or advantage to be a man because of these reasons. They fail to see that while more men may be winners in society, more men are losers as well. The loser men are usually held in lower esteem and cared about less than the loser women. Loser men are more likely to be ignored and reviled as well. For that, I refuse to be a White Knight in shining armor for women who haven’t earned that right which is very difficult to do, ladies. My attitude is either you want equality or you want chivalry, and you should not have both. You can get a chivalrous attitude from me if I am recognized as your superior or you can get treated as an equal if you are recognized as my equal which may be more pleasant in some ways and unpleasant in others in comparison to chivalry. I hate being an inferior to anyone, and will submit under that person’s authority without chaffing under the tyranny only if that person is truly a good leader preferably with my and fellow underlings interests at heart. The ladies will find that while being a high status male is great in most respects, being a lower status male is horrible. If they want equality, here it is harder, faster and more of it served up to you. They often don’t understand how competitive things are, and you may be a winner today and a loser tommorow.
I owe a good leader my loyalty and best and as a leader I owe my underlings my loyalty and best. I expect the same from those under me. I can even tolerate and be sympathetic to incompetent dufuses better than most if I see their heart is in the right place and they are trying their best. Anyone who outranked me would get immediate respect upon first meeting and had to lose that respect through incompetence or worse through a “I don’t owe you shit(anything) attitude.”It’s real easy to do what’s right for those above you because if you don’t, you’re more likely to be punished, but it’s difficult to do for those under you because you’re less likely to be punished when you fail. That’s why I always respected leadership who tried to do right for those under them and knew what the right thing to do was. Too many in this world forget this. Regretably,it’s also happened in the military too.
How does all of this relate to prostitution? Have you noticed that as women were allowed to integrate more fully in the military and as a higher percentage of the military are women that there is a correalation of more anti-prostitution in the military? I’m not saying it’s the only cause or correalation or even a cause at all, but notice the correalation. Have you noticed you could say the same thing concerning prostitution when women got the right to vote? I know women in the USA got the right to vote in 1920 everywhere, but some states allowed women to vote at least 40 years earlier and there was agitation for women to vote for decades prior to 1920. Too many people thought back then and regretably today too that women are morally superior to men, and this is one of the reasons proposed for letting women have the vote.which simply isn’t true. Women are just as evil as men although their evil is often expressed differently. Have you ever wondered why a higher percentage of men across all races are libertarians or even so called conservatives than women? Have you ever wondered why the nanny government was allowed to grow against our liberty and true equality and we have so many ridicul;ous laws including against prostitution? Don’t get me wrong, most men have thought the growth of the government and reduction of liberty and true equality was and is a good idea too, but a higher percentage of women on average did too.
