We’re slowly getting closer to the completion of my annex project, but when I was recently asked to show pictures that would give an idea what the whole thing looks like right now, I realized I couldn’t really do so. This, then, is an attempt at one such picture; it was taken while standing right in front of the bathroom door, aiming southeast. The hot tub with its fountain (I’m going to try to get a short video of it in action soon, when I top off the tub) is on the right, and to the left you can see the bar and the little shrine, though the bar is currently cluttered with tools and the like because there’s still some work to be done. I’ll be working on one of those projects pretty soon, namely connecting the chimney for the wood-burning stove; I wanted to wait until the dry season was officially underway. Around here, that’s July and August, so I’ll tackle it around the middle of the month. After that I’m going to apply some Durabak to the line where the atrium roof joins the roof of the main house (which still has a minor but annoying leak in heavy rain) in hopes of sealing it up, and while I’m at it I need to do a section of the shop roof which has a similar small-but-irritating leak. Then I’m going to coat the ramps, which at least won’t require going up on a damned roof. Compared to what I’ve already accomplished, though, none of that should be too bad, and this winter the area should be much warmer and cozier (if you enlarge the photo you can probably see the firewood rack and kindling box Jae set up, just left of the stove). And even though we’ve still got a few things to accomplish, at least it’s starting to look like an actual room rather than just a construction site.

My, what a lovely space.
Thank you! Jae did the decorating; I just built it.
