It is deemed “natural causes”. – Natasha Perry, jailer
You’d be amazed how little time I have to work these days; caring for Jae, dealing with hospital staff and keeping friends updated takes a tremendous amount of time. But I did manage to run into this very funny video I’d like to share with you, and the links above it are from Radley Balko (“wrong”, “starved” and “shamans”), Rick Horowitz (“nothing”), and Popehat (“libertarianism”).

Re: Tribal shamans punish woman for gazing upon sacred ritual.
Actually there’s a good reason the police don’t want anybody watching what they are doing. They don’t want witnesses when they start brutalizing or murdering their victims.
Just this once, Maggie, just this once, you are entirely, utterly, totally and completely wrong. I am not at all amazed at the time you have to give to Jae, or to correspondents. I do know how much work there is involved in this sort of recovery and recuperation, how time-intensive it is.
What does amaze me, though, is that you are still able to produce a daily column. You do get to sleep at times, don’t you?
Once in a while.
Thanks for posting the cartoon Rejected. Sadly, despite what the title of the YouTube video says, it did not win an Oscar for Best Animated Short Film, although it was nominated in 2000. Ultimately, it was…rejected. Still, I think it will be remembered long after many other Oscar-winning cartoon shorts are forgotten.
“Crime: stealing a snack. Penalty: starved to death in a cage.”
The kid was mentally ill. This is what happens when libertarians decide that the government should stay out of healthcare and stop wasting tax dollars taking care of the infirm. They fall through the cracks to the bottom of the barrel, which is a prison cell. And even those are privatised, run by profit-driven companies who shave every coin.
