Happy Thanksgiving to my American readers! To you, and also to my readers outside the US, I wish y’all all the peace and prosperity you could hope for, and then some. Blessed Be!

What an odd painting! Why are there crowns and coins coming out of the cornucopia rather than agricultural produce, why does the eagle have a baton, and why are there pearls cast before the swine?
Ah, I see – she is not Ceres, she is Fortuna. She bestows wealth, authority, and royal crowns on barnyard animals. In the end, these creatures trample them into the ground because they just don’t know any better. Not strictly a thanksgiving sentiment – rather subversive, really – but happy TG, anyway.
Subversive? Moi? Would I ever imply that many of the people who have plenty have no appreciation for what they have? Perish the thought.
Happy Thanksgiving, and Blessed Be! One thing I’m thankful for is your fantastic website. Thank you for working so hard on such excellent posts. Have a great holiday!
