Whiter Shade of Pale was a great song but you’ve gone too far in Nigeria. – Wise King Aido
This week, our videos are a couple of commercials. The first (via Zenon Evans) is a Danish PSA intended to encourage young people to vote; it was pulled after only 24 hours, not for its mockery of nanny-state micromanagement but rather for “sexism”. The second (via EconJeff, who also contributed “Tom Lehrer”) is a sweet ad for a new airport in a remote part of Turkey; you don’t need to speak the language to appreciate it. Everything down to the first video was provided by Radley Balko, and those between the videos by Jesse Walker (“headline”), Furry Girl (“Pygmalion”), Wikileaks (“Sweden”), Dave Barry (“crocodile”), Rick Horowitz (“electrocute” and “contempt”), Cop Block (“together”), Ally Fogg (“conspiracy”), and Grace (“libertarianism”).

Someone should tell that elf … “One cannot simply TAKE LSD!” LOL
Will we hear Amnesty International criticize any western nation that jails it’s citizens for disagreement with progressive or Marxist policies? Doubtful.
Off-duty Cops as Bouncers in Bars …
This is the most incestuously heinous practice I can think of. It’s illegal in Orleans Parish in Louisiana – we can hire off-duty Firemen as bouncers – but not cops. What bars are trying to do is … First – to “inoculate” themselves to lawsuits by “piggy-backing” onto the police force’s seeming “immunity” to them. If a cop-bouncer beats a guy up – the crime is investigated by his buddies – so nothing happens.
Second … if cops are in the bars as security – there’s less chance (zero chance) the bar will ever be “raided”. For instance – ATC isn’t going to try to sneak an underaged kid in the bar for a “sting” on that establishment – if the bouncer checking ID’s at the door is an off-duty cop.
As I said though – it’s illegal in Orleans Parish now and that’s one of the good laws we have.
Also – I really like the attitude of the bar manager and the owners of the bar I work at. They will not hire a bouncer who’s a “hot head” or who’s there solely as an excuse to get into fights or abuse people. Any bouncer that is already employed and reveals himself as such is fired immediately. Every time I’ve had an incident that involved putting hands on a customer the owner immediately comes down to the bar and asks … “Krulac, did we do everything right?” and I always say … “I think we did, boss”.
Here’s the secret – bars … are about women. A bar that has a good supply of female customers is a successful bar. Women – don’t show up in bars that have a reputation as a “Road House”. They like safe, non-dramatic bars. So the trick is to always resolve conflict peacefully … and as low-key as possible. Only lay hands on a guy for self-defense, or to protect a customer who’s being assaulted – never touch a guy until he’s committed a felony – or is in the act of doing so. And – even when you have to go “hands-on” – use the minimum amount of force. And I always tell new bouncers to “signal” all the bouncers to get involved – it’s not a testosterone contest – you don’t have to prove anything. We’re not about “fair fights” … three bouncers can safely haul one unruly customer out of the bar without having to bloody the guy up. One bouncer – he’s gonna have to throw punches and there’s gonna be collateral damage.
And the last piece of advice I give is the most important … “Always wait for a stall – never piss in the urinal.” 🙂
LOL – the urinal is the most “compromising” position a bouncer can be in. Face to the wall – dick hanging out of his pants, can’t tell you the number of bouncers I’ve seen or heard who were knocked out with a beer bottle while they stood at a urinal!!
Also – on the Barney Fife that shot himself …
Not the first cop to shoot himself in the foot.
Had to post this one too. Cops aren’t the only idiots who shoot themselves. This guy was practicing … I guess … a close encounter … I don’t like his form at all – he should have taken a step or two back to give himself more time and room to draw … whatever.
Also – I’m pro-second amendment – but I don’t understand guys who are all about defending themselves with firearms – but they don’t take the time to keep themselves in decent physical shape or work on their hand-to-hand abilities. It seems kind of lazy to me.
“Meet the Fokkens”, about the twin elderly prostitutes, is on Netflix now, FYI.
