Maybe it’s spreading so quickly due to the rich soil provided by the 20-year bipartisan crusade to pretend supporting sexworker rights is harmful to children. If you supported “sex trafficking” hysteria and laws (including censorship) targeting sex workers, you helped create this. So you can squawk out “THE RIGHT!” all you like; your pet politicians have been working on creating this for two decades, and the blood is on your hands just as much as the hands of “conservatives”. Maybe you should’ve opposed bigotry and censorship vs sexual minorities from the start instead of setting your own ilk up as judges of which sexual minorities are “good” and deserving of rights, and which “bad” and therefore undeserving. But I’m sure the worst offenders will just keep flapping their “left wing” and running around in circles squawking “TRUMP!” rather than actually taking a hard look in the mirror.
Finger-pointing and Wing-flapping

Have to disagree with you on the deSantis bill. It does not even contain any of the words “don’t”, “say”, or “gay”.
The bill simply forbids teachers of students in grades K-3 from bringing up sexual topics. The fact that anyone objects shows that it was needed.
Censorship is a wrong, period, and needs mighty justification lacking here. Very, very, VERY few new laws are “needed”, and that goes double for laws opposed by substantial fractions of the populace. You’re far too comfortable with police-statery when it appeals to your own beliefs.
The law is vaguely written. It appears to ban any mention of Gay relationships or Trans identities up to third grade, with no mention of context. So if, for example, the children are asked to give a brief report about their families, then any mention of Gay or Trans family members could get a teacher in trouble. For fourth grade and up, the law says any discussion must be ‘age-appropriate’, but there is no clear way to figure out what would be considered appropriate for any given age. People disagree wildly over such standards. And the law allows any parent to sue, no matter how extreme that parent’s views might be.
I think DeSantis should have ended compulsory education completely. Then again, he’s no more of a megalomaniac than Biden and Trump.
