Re: Because it’s France
Around here they didn’t go so far as to arrest Uber execs but they did manage to stop Uber from operating by requiring them to get insurance. Uber declined and doesn’t serve here. Strike on up for the taxi companies who were behind it all. No wonder they didn’t want Uber around, I calculated the cost of a trip I take by taxi for $30, for Uber it would have only been $18.
Uber in France – these dudes were arrested for running an illegal taxi business because they are, in fact, running an illegal taxi business. You may argue that France has no business regulating taxis, to which the reply is “who decides that?”
Who decides? Reality decides. Regulating Taxis was only workable in the old days, when not too many people had cars and people had no way of easily hooking up.
It’s very similar to prostitution. People can have sex for free and give car rides for free. But somehow the government think they can control how and when people do it for money. You just can’t prevent people from selling what they are allowed to do for free. The cost of enforcement is ridiculous for no real effect.
The legal taxi drivers have been scammed into paying a fortune for legal licenses that are completely worthless.
I’ll take the bait. There are lotsa laws and comparatively very, very few law enforcers per rule per lawbreaker. Soooo, the apt question is Who decides which laws get enforced and which unlucky individual/business gets subjected to the tender mercies of the justice system? I say, follow the money trail, alright. Find who’s revenue stream was interrupted by “Uber”. Yeah, that’s just too much work and too much thinking and, yet, it barely touches the surface as to what is easily discernible as government conducted as a never ending criminal conspiracy on behalf of corporate welfare recipients, in this case, the insurance industry.
