The Emperor of America

I recently decided to reread my entire comic book collection, and this splash page from Action Comics #52 (September, 1942) caught my attention for reasons that should be obvious. In the story, the soi-disant emperor is a mad scientist who has invented a machine that broadcasts rays which nullifies resistance, so people will agree with anything anyone tells them to do, regardless of how ridiculous. Naturally Superman is immune, and early in the story utters the soliloquy, “What’s happened to everyone? Have they gone insane?” before flying to Washington to defeat the villain in his usual style. But in the course of the story, the madman takes actions which may seem familiar 84 years later: pillaging the treasury, replacing the cabinet and Supreme Court with his hoodlum henchmen, etc.
Truth is indeed stranger than fiction.

I used to try to explain when a young or pre-menopausal woman makes some sort of confident statement about what she will be like post-menopause. Now I just shrug and say, "You'll find out soon enough."

The best part of this algae bloom is, it only needs to stay in place for two more weeks from today to achieve maximum humiliation value for Trump and the whole MAGA movement. After the 4th, it can vanish overnight; what will be remembered is the perfect metaphor for the semiquincentennial.

She is not only vastly stupid, but also vastly lazy. – W.A. Mozart
There was no way I was going to feature anything by the Village People over one of my favorite songs (which I’ve somehow never featured), sung by Bonnie Tyler but written by the legendary Jim Steinman. The links above it were provided by T. Greg Doucette; Kevin Wilson; Mike Siegel; Jesse Walker; Dan Savage ; Radley Balko; and Mike Masnick, in that order.
- Metaphor alert.
- The new “Adolf”.
- Cops really hate being outdone.
- Seven lost Mozart compositions.
- R.I.P. Victor Willis and Bonnie Tyler.
- Cops are consistently a menace to society.
- There is still occasional good news, at least in STEM.
From the Archives
- There are a few judges willing to block “monkey see, monkey do” parades.
- Was this the person who sent me the proof of Ashley Madison’s con game?
- Crypto-moralists want people to fear even moderate alcohol consumption.
- I’m sure they helpfully yelled “Stop faking!” at him whenever he coughed.
- Sleeping with a cop is one of the most dangerous things a woman can do.
- Another of the people the government empowers to police your sexuality.
- While sex work is marginalized, sex workers will be targeted for violence.
- Politicians are avid devotees of cutting off their noses to spite their faces.
- If prohibitionists want to “rescue” whores, why shut us out of other jobs?
- It’s only been 4 years since the UK lost in court the last time it tried this.
- What so-called “AI” is actually best at is parting fools from their money.
- Mexican cops are more concerned about sex workers than US cops are.
- Erosion of civil liberties starts with “undesirables”; it never stops there.
- New tyrannies are often tested first on whores, but never stop with us.
- One of the people the government empowers to police your sexuality.
- What loser would pay to talk to computer programs posing as people?
- It’s not like 2011 is ancient history, or Florida far away from Georgia.
- Cops will continue to do this until there are criminal penalties for it.
- Politicians recognize bank blacklisting when it affects their cronies.
- Kansas courts aren’t allowing politicians to circumvent the voters.
- This surveillance is only “mandatory” for adults ignorant of VPNs.
- Cops, religion, Spencer Milligan, Shelley Duvall, and much more.
- An attempt to push back the swelling tide of adult infantilization.
- There is no part of this reeking pile of shit that fails to be stupid.
- Another attempt to use antique laws to ban abortion is foiled.
- My thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth anniversary columns.
- Naturally, because it’s cops’ job to cause harm, not reduce it.
- Cops, satire, Jim Shooter, Michael Madsen, and much more.

This is just one in a long line of attacks on our rights. – Alexis Johnson
When will the mainstream media admit that pigs in schools are a menace?
A [typical and representative Pennsylvania cop paid to lurk in]…school[s to spy on, harass, and intimidate students] has been arrested on child pornography charges…[an anonymous snitch tattled on] David Jayne…[to cops, who raided his house and found a trove of child porn going back] about 20 years…[Reporters interviewed a mob of slackjawed nitwits who expressed confusion over the revelation that cops are hypocrites and fear of sex ray contamination]…
Cops claim they “don’t know” if this was hate-motivated:
…a Santa Fe [New Mexico] transgender teen…[named] Juniper Blessing…was stabbed more than 40 times [at a University of Washington student housing complex in Seattle on the evening of May 10]…Christopher Leahy [surrendered]…to police [the following] Thursday…He…[is being] charge[d]…with first-degree murder…Blessing [was found] dead in the laundry room of Nordheim Court…around 10:10 p.m…[and Leahy was] caught on surveillance video…as…he…unplugged [the camera in preparation for]…the attack…Police haven’t referred the case to prosecutors as a hate crime investigation…Last month, a 39-year-old transmasculine person named Lucas Knapp was [murdered] in [New Mexico by]…David Thomas Byington, [who] fired at Knapp multiple times with a rifle…Investigators in Kentucky are continuing to search for 22-year-old Murry Foust, a trans man enrolled at Northern Kentucky University who has been missing since April 27…
Unsafe for Human Consumption (#1549)
Cops won’t drop this fantasy until “news” media stop obediently parroting it:
An [anxiety-prone Pennsylvania cop faint]ed in a p[igmobile] and [his bosses decided to turn it into “magic fentanyl” copaganda because]…he…help[ed] destroy narcotics inside the evidence room…about 20 minutes [earlier]…fentanyl [does not have a delayed effect, nor any effect from casual contact]…no[r any side effect of] memory [loss, but cops decided to turn it into a “magic fentanyl” scary tale anyhow, assuming it happened at all (given that no name was provided)]…
Do As I Say, Not As I Do (#1591)
It’s too bad cops don’t spend all of their time fantasy role-playing with each other:
A D.C. [cop] has been arrested in Maryland [for talking to another cop]…Matthew Mahl…exchanged sexually explicit text messages with a Maryland [cop fantasy role-playing online]…as a 15-year-old boy…Mahl has been [rewarded with a paid vacation. The game]…was [part of a moneymaking scheme organized by toxic con artist] Chris Hansen, known for his [unethical] exp[loitation of public fears about “]child predators[” which resulted in a trail of ruined lives and even suicides, and inspired dozens of sleazy YouTube imit]ations. Hansen, who[se]…”To Catch a Predator” [show was cancelled due to successful lawsuits by its victims,] now hosts the series “Takedown with Chris Hansen” which fo[llows the same revolting formula]…
Sleeping with a cop is one of the most dangerous things a woman can do:
A Wichita [Kansas cop named]…Grayson Hoofer was [arrested] for [breaking into his estranged girlfriend’s house to beat and sexually terrorize her]…Hoofer…[was, predictably,] a member of [a cop gang supposedly intended to intervene in]…domestic…violence [cases]. His [bosses have] since [hidden that, but also bragged that Hoofer]…has been re[warded with a]…paid [vacation]…
No, it can’t connect to my bank account; “your” is not a pronoun meaning “any fool’s”:
OpenAI wants…[fools] to…be able to connect their accounts across more than 12,000 financial institutions to…[Cat, I farted so it can root] “in your…financial accounts…in a way that feels more personal and complete”…If you are someone reasonably [sane]…you might be thinking, “Why on Earth would I want to do that?” But OpenAI…is [not marketing to sensible]…people…
Just a reminder that even if they’d let this diktat stand, it is wholly unenforceable:
The Supreme Court [has overruled a 5th Circuit diktat attempting to stop] the abortion pill mifepristone [from being] available by mail without an in-person appointment…The decision, a loss for the state of Louisiana, ensures [clinicians] will not be [criminalized when they prescribe]…the drug [for women in forced-birth states]…Two [totalitarian judg]es, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, dissented…[absurdly barfing] “criminal enterprise” [at the plaintiffs]…
I find paywalls distasteful, and so many people find this blog valuable as a resource I just can’t bring myself to install one. Furthermore, I find ad delivery services (whose content I have no say over) even more distasteful. But as I’m now semi-retired from sex work, I can’t self-sponsor this blog by myself any longer. The left-right nonsense, once confined to politics, has in the past 30-someodd years penetrated all of US culture like cat spray.

Any slang term is moribund when it is used to describe a number of different, sometimes unrelated or even contradictory, things. "Cringe" has now reached that point; proceed accordingly.

Until I got on social media, I would never have suspected that there were so many people in the US who never, ever, EVER need to transport cargo or disabled people, or travel more than 100 km from their homes.

One of the more interesting aspects of this time period for me is that I get to see other people saying or agreeing with the kind of statements I've incessantly made for over 40 years, mostly to eye-rolling and dismissal. You bet I'm gonna say "I told you so".

Actually, if one considers the political conditions which allowed Trump to ascend to the throne and carry out his reign of madness, it is far more accurate to say Trump is working to finish the job Bin Laden started.

Oh please, please, PLEASE let it be so. It'll be much easier for the Invertebrate Party to agree to tear it down if it's structurally unsound.

This weird 21st-century shit of Trick-or-Treating at random times on random days in October determined by mobs or politicians, instead of on Halloween night, was a sign of cultural decline. Too bad so few recognized that.

Ever since the "Department of Homeland Security" was created by Bush II, I have referred to it as the "Department of Fatherland Security". People used to claim I was exaggerating. I don't hear that accusation much any more.

Once again, mainstream voices are starting to agree with what I've been saying since high school > 40 years ago. But knowing what it took to shake people out of their ovine complacency and childish "leader" fantasies, I take no real pleasure in having been right. Cassandra was not a happy person.

"Abducted". They ABDUCTED her from a daycare. "Took" is for inanimate objects, not people, and even then only if they have the owner's permission; otherwise the correct verb is "stole".RIGHT: "A goon took his lunch to work".WRONG: "A goon took a teacher's phone."WRONG: "Goons took a teacher."

Stop referring the characters in computer-generated videos as they were people. These videos are animations, even if they look real; those who appear in them are therefore cartoon characters, and should be described as such.
