The war on guns, like the war on drugs, is primarily waged on poor people. – Baynard Woods and Brandon Soderberg
Doris Day, who passed away this week at the ripe old age of 97, was probably my mother’s favorite singer; I remember her singing “Que Sera, Sera” so often when I was a child that I knew the lyrics by heart before I started school (and it’s one of the few popular songs entirely within my rather-limited vocal range). So it only seems appropriate to feature a recording of that song as this week’s video; the link above it were provided by SWOP Behind Bars, Tim Cushing, C.J. Ciaramella, Elizabeth N. Brown, Radley Balko, and Tim Cushing again (in that order).

My Mom used to sing Que Sera Sera occasionally, but not a lot. So I only learned the chorus when I was extremely young. And I can barely remember my Mom watching Doris Day’s TV show back then (and I remember being very confused and disturbed because she had kids one season, and then they disappeared without a trace in the next).
Anyway, the song fits within my vocal range, too (I was classed as a Bass in High School, but I can sing a lot of Tenor, too, and a limited bit of Alto). So I sang it at karaoke on Wednesday. I was kind of nervous about it, because I didn’t even try to change the gender in the lyrics, but it went over really well.
Tonight, I’m planning to do Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps at an Open Mic. Mainly because I already know how to play it on guitar. (I first became familiar with the Mari Wilson version, but when I looked for the chords online, all I found were the Doris Day and the Cake versions. So I went with Doris. Cake’s version is in a weird key.)
Detroit, Baltimore, San Francisco….all these authoritarian pestholes are Democrat enclaves. Democrats TALK about individual liberty, but they don’t actually support it. They are statists.
Sadly, so are most Republicans, but the GOP is shifting the other way, slowly. The Democrats are going full bore fascist, as their Antifa brownshirts might tend to indicate.
I wish the Republicans would get shut of their Boys in Blue crush, but it is Democrat Mayors who enable the worst Police abuses.
