We all have the right to live a private life…without…a government drone flying overhead and watching us without a warrant or our knowledge.  –  Matt Cagle

If Men Were Angels (#1274)

It says a great deal that when something resembling “sex trafficking” propaganda really happens, a church is behind it:

…A federal racketeering conspiracy indictment…[has] charged that…Naasón Joaquín García…and five associates used [García’s] La Luz del Mundo Church to sex-traffic women and children and produce and distribute child pornography, among other crimes.  His 79-year-old mother was among those charged…García is already serving a 16-year, eight-month state sentence after pleading guilty in California in 2022 to…[sexually abus]ing three different minors…After his arrest in the California case in 2019, the new indictment says, Mr. García’s associates, including one posing as a lawyer, pressured witnesses and victims not to [talk to cops] and directed pastors of the church to deliver sermons calling victims who had come forward liars…

Thought Control (#1289)

Just keep plunging that ice pick in; the bad thoughts will go away eventually:

…If [pro-censorship politician Mike] Pelfrey couldn’t persuade voters to elect him to “fix” the [Josephine County, Oregon] library’s [“]problem[” of insufficient censorship]…he would simply de…fund the community institution…Recalled Commissioner John West [aided and abetted him to put pressure]…on the…remaining commissioners…to…push…the Trump agenda of bigotry, hatred, and intimidation…For over two years…a small group of white men [has been] deciding who gets access to a community asset…A handful of people are eager to withhold library services from tens of thousands to score a few political points.  That’s all it is, and that’s all it has ever been…

Panopticon (#1437)

Courts keep allowing the state to enrich itself via unconstitutional warrantless surveillance:

Sonoma County [California is using “]unlicensed cannabis crops[“]…as [an excuse] to [levy] six-figure fines, [leading to] foreclosures…evictions…and devastation…for folks…who did not grow cannabis…In June, the…ACLU…filed a lawsuit on behalf of…residents…[because] the authorities’ “runaway spying operation” violates constitutional protections against unlawful searches…[via] a fleet of high-powered drones…with precision zoom cameras, all while concealing the surveillance from residents, the media, and local oversight bodies…[more than] a dozen Sonoma residents…might lose their home…because of…county code enforcement making as much money off of [low tax-bracket] people [as possible]…

I Spy (#1515)

Cops everywhere are moral imbeciles, and those who facilitate their evil are enemies of humanity:

…Forensic analysis by…Citizen Lab…found that commercially available FlexiSPY spyware was [surreptitiously] installed on…two [Kenyan filmmakers’] phones on or around May 21…The phones were [stolen by cops] on May 2, when [they] arrested documentarians Mark Denver Karubiu and Bryan Adagala, cinematographer Nicholas Wambugu, and graphic designer Christopher Wamae at a studio in…Nairobi…the four were released [the next day] without charge but four phones, a tablet, computers, and storage devices…were not returned until July 10…Police [were trying to gin up a case against] the filmmakers [because they were embarrassed by]…“Blood Parliament,” a BBC documentary that implicated Kenyan [cops] in the June 2024 [murder]s of protesters…[but] the four “were not involved in any way in the making” of the documentary…FlexiSPY markets itself for [abusive] parents and [exploitative] employers to “know everything that happens” on a computer or phone, including monitoring messages, emails, and social media; recording calls; tracking device locations, website visits, and passwords; downloading photos and videos; and listening through a device’s microphone…

The Puritan Recrudescence (#1531)

Missouri is increasingly allowing its politicians to govern by edict, without tiresome democratic processes:

Missouri will require…websites [a politician has pointed at while belching the word “]pornographic[” to spy on users who don’t use VPNs]…The regulation [circumvents the need to enact a law by pretending anything sexual]…constitutes an “unfair practice” under…Missouri [consumer protection law.  New attorney general Catherine]…Hanaway [wasted no time in showing she could be as ridiculous as any male politician, spinning her head around 360o while projectile vomiting buzzwords including]…“hold…accountable[“…”]human trafficking[“], and…[“]dangerous[“.  The scheme was originally dreamed up by former]…attorney general…Andrew Bailey, who [has joined the Trump regime]…

Torture Chamber (#1539)

A society can be judged by the way it treats its prisoners:

When Sheqweetta Vaughan gave birth to a healthy baby boy…in January…[she] had just…beg[u]n a two-year [prison] sentence…Six months [later], Vaughn…d[ied] alone in a sweltering hot [solitary confinement] cell and nobody [noticed]…until her body had already begun to decompose…[the] deputy coroner…report[ed]…“a strong odor of decay.”  The temperature in the cell was in the 90s, and there was little ventilation…procedure requires [screws] in those units to look in on prisoners at least every 30 minutes…but the level of decomposition…[demonstrates she] had been dead at least a day before paramedics were called…Vaughan’s death…marks the second known instance in the last two years in which the body of a Georgia prisoner was discovered decomposing in a cell. In April 2023…Anthony Zino…was dead for five days…before [screws] noticed…he [had been murdered]…and stuffed inside a mattress…Vaughan was being treated by a prison psychiatrist and had been prescribed…haloperidol…[for which] one of the side effects…is an increased risk of heat stroke…

If Men Were Angels (Nasty Pictures)

Wannabe preachers are often as bad as the real thing:

Jason Yates, once the public face of conservative Christian voter outreach, has pleaded guilty to possession of child [porn]…as part of a plea deal that dismissed six [more serious] charges…many [of the children in the images] appearing to be under the age of 10…at least eight…depicted children between the ages of five and seven…the unraveling began in July 2024 when a family member accidentally found a hard drive while sorting through Yates’ office.  Upon opening the files, they encountered graphic images…and [reported him to cops.  Under interrogation] he…disclosed a prior expunged conviction involving similar material…Yates…frequently…oppose[d] LGBTQ rights, abortion access, and secular governance…[as] “sexually deviant messaging” targeting children and called such influence “infernal programming”…

[Computer-edited videos are] a nightmarish mess of distorted faces, garbled text, and misshapen backgrounds.  –  Jess Weatherbed

The Pygmalion Fallacy (#1016)

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from the “Campaign Against Toasters”:

…[anti-sex fanatics] assert that sex-doll play objectifies women, contributes to anti-female attitudes, and spurs sexual assault and pedophilia.  Some…pro[hibitionists want] a ban on the dolls…and criminal prosecution for those who own or sell them.  However, a recent study shows that sex-doll owners are normal, mentally healthy guys whose problems with relationships steered them to play with sex toys that are inanimate substitutes for real women…English researchers…found no significant differences between owners and non-owners, and no evidence that, compared with non-owners, doll owners pose any greater sexual threat to women or society…Doll owners were much more likely to be single, separated, or divorced…[and] reported considerably less partner sex…owners reported somewhat less sexual self-esteem and a little more performance anxiety…they were somewhat more likely to view women as mysterious and unknowable, which dovetails with the fact that so many were single, separated, or divorced.  However…owners were less likely to fantasize about sexual coercion or report any interest in sexual aggression against women…owners’ psychological makeup “…suggests that dolls act as a safe surrogate for relationships with living people due to concerns about their own sexual performance and lack of understanding of women…Doll ownership does not appear to be associated with sexual aggression or sexual offending”…

The Last Shall Be First (#1410)

It only starts with demonized minorities:

…the Trump [regime is] demand[ing]…confidential patient information from doctors and hospitals that provide gender-related treatments for [legal minors.  A]…subpoena to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, sent in June, includes a seven-page list of requested documents, including “every writing or record of whatever type” made by doctors related to gender-affirming care, which includes therapy, puberty blockers, hormones and [rarely] surgery.  The subpoena…also [demanded] the birth dates, Social Security numbers and addresses of patients who received transgender care…in [order] to [persecute them despite]…federal confidentiality protections for patients and their medical providers…

Pyrrhic Victory (#1479)

Privacy as we once knew it is a thing of the past:

Two…Harvard [dropou]ts are launching a pair of “always-on” [computerized] glasses that…record…and transcribe every conversation, and then display relevant information to the wearer in real time. “Our goal is to make [people much stupider and completely dependent on expensive gizmos, while appealing to their egos by telling them it will] make [them ‘]super intelligent[‘]”…said AnhPhu Nguyen, co-founder of…Halo…his co-founder Caine Ardayfio [claimed consulting a database is the same as]…“infinite memory…The [goal is] to [create a world of submorons who need computers]…to tell [them] what to say”…Ardayfio and Nguyen have [already] raised $1 million to develop the glasses…[which are] available for pre-order at $249…“[We don’t care] about…privacy”…Nguyen added…point[ing out that]…while [Facebook] glasses have an indicator light when their cameras and microphones are [active]…to warn others that they are being recorded…the Halo glasses…in[tentionally do not, so victims have no] warn…ing…“We want [the intrusion] to be discreet, like normal glasses,” said Ardayfio…

To Molest and Rape (#1496)

It was obvious this would turn out to be sordid:

The rural Kentucky judge gunned down in his own chambers last year r[outinely threatened]…young women w[ith severe criminal penalties in order to] co[erce them] into performing sexual favors…for…him and others…Mullins…[also threate]ned [victims with criminal charges, CPS and other violence] to keep [them] quiet…[some screws and cops claimed to have] heard…“nasty and sickening” stories…[ab]out…the [“]parties[“, but]…one [victim], Sabrina Adkins…[eventually bl]ew…the [whistle] during a 2022 criminal investigation into a [cop]…who…[anally and vaginally] rape[d]…a [woman trapped in the county’s cages]…Mullins’ shooting [by Sheriff Shawn Stines may have had something to do with the scheme because after the murder]…he…immediately surrendered, telling cops: “They’re trying to kidnap my wife and kid”…

You Were Warned (#1515)

The US Constitutional order is no more:

[Mad emperor] Trump is calling national security and privacy concerns related to TikTok and its Chinese parent company “highly overrated” and said…he’ll keep [unconstitutionally] extending the deadline…until there’s a buyer.  Congress approved a[n unconstitutional] ban on TikTok unless its parent company, ByteDance, sold its controlling stake.  But Trump has so far [unconstitutionally] extended the deadline three times…with the next one coming up on Sept. 17…and…the White House start[ed] a TikTok account [last] week…[so] it appears less and less likely that TikTok will be banned in the U.S. any time soon…

Creepy Coppers (#1527)

Some cops don’t limit themselves to one type of creepiness:

A…Georgia [cop named]…Matthew Abbott…[has been] charged with…distribution of [child porn featuring adults raping]…children between the ages of 8 and 12 years old…and [also with jerking off]…in a public parking lot near an elementary school…while [wearing his magical clown costume.  His boss hog used the occasion to vomit up a bunch of self-aggrandizing bullshit]…

Enshittification (#1557)

A company whose motto used to be “Don’t Be Evil” has made violating its users’ consent a standard business practice:

YouTube [used computers to alter] videos without telling users or asking permission.  As…our world [becomes increasingly enshittified], what happens to our shared connection with real life?…Wrinkles in shirts seem more defined. Skin is sharper in some places and smoother in others.  Pay close attention to ears, and you may notice them warp.  These changes are small, barely visible without a side-by-side comparison…[but the creators point out] it gives their content a subtle and unwelcome [uncanny valley] feeling…Complaints on social media date back to June, at least, with users posting closeups of odd-looking body parts and questioning YouTube’s intentions.  Now, after months of rumors in comment sections, the company has finally confirmed it is altering a limited number of videos on YouTube Shorts, the app’s shortform video feature…

This is absolutely being framed as a tool of abuse.  –  Eva Galperin

Above the Law

Don’t fret, it’s for your “security”:

An Israeli government [“]cybersecurity[” bureaucrat] was…arrested recently by Las Vegas police…[for respond]ing [to] a…[cop fantasy role-playing as a teenage girl] online…Tom Artiom Alexandrovich…faces felony charges…[but] has since been released [after paying] $10,000…and returned to Israel…Alexandrovich…[was] in Las Vegas earlier…for the Black Hat Briefings, a yearly meeting of [“]cybersecurity[“] professionals…

Remember what “black hat” used to mean?  It still does.

What the Hell Were You Thinking? (#417)

Amateurs repeatedly screw up what sex workers have done for many years:

…The Tea app, much like the Are We Dating the Same Guy Facebook groups, invites [amateur] women to join and share red flags about men to help other [amateur] women avoid them.  In order to verify that every person who joined…was a woman, Tea asked users to upload a picture of their ID or their face.  Tea was founded in 2022 but…[in] July this year…reached the top of the Apple App Store chart…and claimed it had more than 1.6 million users…but…Tea did not have all the “safety measures” it needed to keep women safe….[because] users’ images, identifying information, and more than a million private conversations…were compromised in two separate security breaches in late July.  The first…was immediately abused by…misogynists on 4chan to humiliate women…after Tea failed to [capture]…the Are We Dating the Same Guy community, [it] shifted tactics to raid those Facebook groups for users…[using] paid influencers…competing Facebook groups with nearly identical names…[and] hijacked Facebook accounts that spammed the real…groups with links to Tea app…[resulting in] a third security breach which exposed the personal data of…paid…promote[rs]…while [Tea founder Sean] Cook said he built Tea to “protect women,” he repeatedly put them at risk and tried to replace a grassroots movement started by a woman who declined to help him…

Secret Squirrel (#1403)

Modern monogamy is becoming increasingly sick:

TikTok [hucksters are] selling GPS trackers marketed with viral videos that have voiceovers explicitly encouraging secretly tracking a romantic partner.  Some of the videos have millions of views, and…more than a hundred thousand of the devices have been sold…The trackers are advertised as undetectable by Apple’s FindMy system.  Many of the videos encourage people to secretly install the devices in their partners’ cars if they suspect them for things like being “out with friends every night”…“This is absolutely being framed as a tool of abuse,” said Eva Galperin…of…the [EFF].  “Anything where the justification is ‘catch your partner cheating’ or ‘get peace of mind about your partner’ is enabling coercive control”…Alongside the trackers, the same c[ulprit]s are advertising secret audio-recording devices with similar abusive framing…

The Last Shall Be First (#1413)

The time, money, and energy Americans are flushing down the “culture war” toilet is incalculable:

After a yearslong legal battle, West Texas A&M University students can finally host a drag show…in March 2023…Spectrum WT, an LGBT-focused student club, sought permission to use Legacy Hall, a university venue, to host a drag show that would raise funds for the Trevor Project…While the university had allowed a wide range of events to take place in Legacy Hall—including religious events, a congressional candidate forum, and a local livestock show—the university’s president, Walter Wendler, stepped in to prevent the drag show from going forward…[pretending to be a champion of] womanhood…even [though he] admitted that the show [wa]s First Amendment–protected…the lower court…[backed] Wendler…[up, absurdly belching the word “]lewdness[” as a justification]…

Torture Chamber (#1555)

This will continue until the evil US immigration policy is reformed:

A United States Senate investigation has identified more than 500 credible reports of human rights abuses in [cages where the Trump regime has crammed] immigra[nts]…since January…the investigation—led by US senator Jon Ossoff…unearthed 41 cases of physical and sexual abuse; 14 involving pregnant [victims] and 18 involving [legal minors]…span[ning dungeons] in 25 states…[one] pregnant woman…bled for days before…miscarry[ing] alone without medical attention…Children as young as 2 were…[denied] medical [care, including one case]…where a…[screw] dismissed her mother’s pleas for help by telling her to “just give the girl a cracker.”  A…child recovering from brain surgery was…denied follow-up care, and a 4-year-old undergoing cancer treatment was deported without access to doctors.  The…most abuse reports [were from concentration camps] in Texas, Georgia, and California…

Walled Garden

Prohibitionists always end up with egg on their faces:

The government needs to [magically] stop children using virtual private networks (VPNs) to bypass age checks on porn sites, [claimed]…Dame Rachel de Souza[, who also absurdly and cluelessly] called for age verification on VPNs…[but another bureaucrat] said VPNs are legal tools for adults and there are no plans to ban them…

To Molest and Rape (#1562)

Cops should not be allowed anywhere near legal minors:

…a [typical and representative] Indianapolis [cop named]…David McDaniel…[repeat]edly molested two girls on several occasions, [starting] with one…when [she]…was 8 years old…[and the other] 9…[one of the victims, who is now] 17…told her father that…McDaniel…[had repeatedly molested her] for…nine years…[his practice was to co]me into the room where the girls were sleeping and touch…their [genitalia]…

Every so often, I’ll pass on a press release I think might be of interest to my readers.  I get press releases nearly every day, but most are just advertising crap from publicity agents; only once in a while is one of them something I think worth promoting.  I got this one a week ago today; it’s for a competition for Southern artists.  If you know an eligible artist, please pass this on.

The Gibbes Museum of Art has announced an extension of the deadline for the 1858 Prize for Contemporary Southern Art.

  • $10,000 prize for the winning artist.
  • An artwork by the winning artist will be exhibited in the museum for one full year.
  • The new deadline for submissions is Sept. 7, 2025.

The 1858 Prize is recognized as one of the leading artist competitions in the Southeastern United States, and awards $10,000 each year to an artist whose work contributes to a new understanding of art in the South.  Artists must reside or work in one of these states. Or – they can live elsewhere but be originally from one of these Southern states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.

The Prize is presented by Society 1858, the museum’s young professionals auxiliary group. In addition to the monetary award, a work by the winning artist will be exhibited in the museum for a full year.  A jury comprised of arts professionals, representatives of Society 1858, and the previous year’s recipient will select the winner, who will be announced in October of 2025.The museum will also invite the winner to Charleston for the official unveiling of their artwork, part of a three-day celebration in February honoring the artist ‒ including the annual Society 1858 Winter Party, and the Amy P. Coy Forum, where the artist will be invited to speak about their work.

Some of the past winners have gone on to receive major national awards and accolades, including: the Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, the Joan Mitchell Fellowship, the United States Artist Fellowship, and the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant.  Some of the winning artists’ works have been acquired in the permanent collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The National Gallery of Art, and Art Institute of Chicago, among other institutions.

More details about the submission process at: gibbesmuseum.org/1858-prize (applications are accepted exclusively through the museum’s website).

Rules and eligibility details at this link (the online application is here).

Past winners of the 1858 Prize include:  Demond Melancon (2024), Sherrill Roland (2023), Raheleh Filsoofi (2022), Stephanie J. Woods (2021), Stephen L. Hayes (2020), Donté K. Hayes (2019), Leo Twiggs (2018), Bo Bartlett (2017), Alicia Henry (2016), Deborah Luster (2015), Sonya Clark (2014), John Westmark (2012), Patrick Dougherty (2011), Radcliffe Bailey (2010), Stephen Marc (2009), and Jeff Whetstone (2008).

When hotel owners face huge lawsuits and fines for failing to profile people, you’re going to end up with a lot of innocent people being harassed.  –  Elizabeth Nolan Brown

If Men Were Angels

No religion has a monopoly on preachy molesters:

A North Carolina pastor [named]…Kyle Lynn Sigmon [has been arrested and charged for sexually assaulting]…a 13-year-old girl in [the street in]…July 2024…

Even the distancing “former” is the same as for rapist cops:

…a [typical and representative Baltimore] youth pastor…has been charged [for] sex[ually]…abusing six boys…Thomas Pinkerton [dazzled the boys with pseudo-religious bullshit, such as telling them the molestation]…was a “heavenly kiss” and that’s how Jesus would greet his disciples…there’s [also] another victim in Georgia…

Crying for Nanny (#1013)

The hotel industry is really going to regret having collaborated with fanatics rather than fighting “sex trafficking” hysteria:

A hotel could be legally liable for [“]sex trafficking[“] because it failed to [call the cops on] a guest who wore “sexually explicit clothing” and had condoms in her room, according to a recent ruling from [federal] Judge Matthew J. Kacsmaryk…The lawsuit was brought by “J.H.” against Paramount Hospitality, a company that manages hotels…[pretending she is a passive object which] was trafficked for sex at a hotel owned and operated by Paramount…Kacsmaryk denied the hotel management company’s motion to dismiss…In a sane judicial system, sex traffickers would be the main entity held liable for sex trafficking…But [so-called “traffickers”, when they exist at all, don’t have as much money as]…third parties [such as hotels or ad websites]…such cases…rely on the idea that the hotels willfully ignored the “signs” of sex trafficking…[such as] her [having visitors to her] room and…”drug paraphernalia,” a gun, and “condoms” in her room…hotel maids come across condoms and drug paraphernalia all the time and aren’t running to hotel management every time they do…The implication from suits like these is that hotel staff need to regard all customers with suspicion and…call the cops if they see a woman who appears intoxicated or has men coming into her room…

The Next Target (#1523)

Politicians want total government control of both the internet and the financial system:

[German censorship] authorities want to force financial service providers to refuse payments to erotic portals [even though only]…adults [can have credit cards.  Censorship bureaucrat]…Marc Jan Eumann…[also wants control of] the Internet’s Domain Name System…[to] enforce…[otherwise] easy…to circumvent [network blocks]…Eumann [claims] studies have shown that pornography is more harmful to minors than…[police] violence…

Opting Out (#1539)

It looks like British subjects will soon need a VPN to access Wikipedia:

…Wikipedia [has] lost a legal challenge to…Britain’s Online Safety Act, which [inflicts draconian demands on] online platforms and has been criticised for [installing a surveillance regime and] curtailing free speech…The foundation said if it was subject to so-called Category 1 duties – which would require Wikipedia’s users and contributors…[to be doxxed to the British government] it would need to drastically reduce the number of British users who can access the site.  Judge Jeremy Johnson dismissed [the] case [without prejudice, saying] the Wikimedia Foundation could bring a further challenge if [censorship bureau] Ofcom “(impermissibly) concludes that Wikipedia is a Category 1 service…[this decision] does not give Ofcom…a green light to implement a regime that would significantly impede Wikipedia’s operations”…

Aladdin’s Satellite (#1554)

Let’s hope many more states act quickly to protect vulnerable people from this evil nonsense:

Illinois…has signed a bill into law banning [scams using chatbots for] therapy…The law highlights that only licensed professionals are allowed to offer counseling services…and forbids [companies] or [individuals] from [pretending a chatbot can] act…as a stand-alone therapist…the…act…also specifies that licensed therapists cannot use [chatbots] to make “therapeutic decisions” or perform any “therapeutic communication”…use for “supplementary support,” such as managing appointments, billing or other administrative work, is allowed…companies or individuals fac[e] $10,000 in fines per violation…The legislation is particularly notable as the Trump [regime is demanding]…a 10-year moratorium on any state-level…regulation [of chatbots]…

Mad Libs (#1555)

These companies need to be bankrupted by lawsuits:

Renowned legal scholar Jonathan Turley [may seek damages from the makers of] ChatGPT [because the program] fabricat[ed] a damaging sexual harassment allegation against him, citing a fake university, trip, and article. The…chatbot…falsely claimed that Turley, who has never taught at Georgetown University, had made inappropriate advances toward a student during a fictional school-sponsored trip to Alaska in 2018…[the program even] cited a non-existent Washington Post article, claiming Turley made “sexually suggestive comments” and attempted to [molest] a student…the lack of any human accountability…is what makes such [chatbots] particularly dangerous…[there is as yet] no real avenue for victims of falsehoods to seek retraction or clarification…

The Cop Myth (#1563)

Cop deals with problems exactly as he was trained & encouraged to; reporter calls that “unusual”:

A…[typical and representative California cop murdered] his [screw] ex-girlfriend and then himself in a…[sadly-typical act of cop violence.  Pig]…Jeremy Lyle…fatally shot [screw] Mari Bonnici…[then] handed…an 8-month-old b[aby to a neighbor and told her to call 911 before driving] off in a truck…[and shooting himself after a multi-hour standoff with the SWAT team].  Police…found two 16-month-old twin girls in the back bedroom…None of the three children were injured and are being cared for by relatives…

Technologies funded to police sex work now monitor everyone.
–  Kate Zen & Chanelle Gallant

See How Well It Works?

Years after the end of the hysteria, fanatics still pretend their dissemination of fantasies is the reason those fantasies never materialize:

A [scam outfit belatedly set up to profit from hysteria over “]sex trafficking[” tried to drum up “gypsy whore” panic over] the NFL Draft in Green Bay[, Wisconsin]…HER Alliance, formerly known as Awaken…says they didn’t see a large uptick [of “victims”] during the draft thanks to [their propaganda about “]the signs of trafficking[“]…

Without Let or Hindrance

Everyone victimized by “child protection” agencies needs to sue:

A Georgia couple whose children were [abducted by the state] for two years following a [malicious accusation] of child abuse have filed a lawsuit…in 2023…Matt and Tuckey Hernandez took their youngest daughter, 3-month-old Emma, to the doctor after noticing some swelling on one of her legs…X-rays found that Emma’s leg and ribs were fractured in several places…[pediatrician] Stephen Messner…[immediate]ly diagnosed Emma with “non-accidental trauma”…[despite] no evidence of abuse on the couple’s 3-year-old…Messner never reviewed any of Baby Emma’s…medical history…the state [immediately abducted both]…daughters…placed the[m]…in a series of foster homes…[and] charged [the parents] with child abuse…DFCS…refus[ed] to place the girls with relatives or family friends…Emma had very low vitamin D, which…had caused her to develop neonatal rickets, weakening her bones…Genetic testing also indicated that Emma had defects in her collagen genes, possibly causing conditions associated with fractures in infants.  But these [facts] were…ignored by the DFCS, which continued to attempt to sever Matt and Tuckey’s parental rights [to sell] the girls…[to] another family…Last month, Matt and Tuckey were acquitted of all charges, and their daughters were finally returned to them…

Rotting Fruit (#894)

The first interesting development in this whole affair since ever:

QAnon didn’t start in a vacuum; it followed two decades of mainstream media and politicians…using the flimsiest evidence and most distorted data to falsely claim that America was in the midst of a sex trafficking epidemic.  And then along came Jeffrey Epstein…[whose] well-documented crimes involving teenage girls, and his roster of rich and powerful friends, could be read by motivated audiences as backing up QAnon claims…Trump…[and his henchmen] began to actively encourage the idea that Epstein’s client list was being deliberately withheld by Democrats with something to hide…But…now, Trump is telling people to forget about Jeffrey Epstein entirely…so…the whole “release the files” business seems slightly less preposterous now that Trump and his lackeys seem desperate to draw attention away from them…The theoretical files were useful as a tool to raise suspicion about Trump’s opponents.  But the actual files…could be a liability or an embarrassment…in that they don’t actually prove anything nefarious about any Democrats…As a political tool, the Epstein files are much more useful if they remain hidden…

Thought Control (#1109)

Western countries have criminalized fiction the government dislikes for years:

Pingping Anan Yongfu…is among at least eight [writers] in recent months wh[o] have shared accounts on Chinese social media platform Weibo of being arrested for publishing gay erotic fiction…At least 30 writers, nearly all of them women in their 20s, have been arrested…since February…some are still [locked] in c[ages, and]…many more…[including some readers,] were summoned for [interrogation]…Haitang Literature City, a Taiwan-hosted platform known for its “danmei”, the genre of so-called boys’ love and erotic fiction…has cultivated a fiercely devoted following, especially among young Chinese women.  These authors are being accused of breaking China’s pornography law for “producing and distributing obscene material”.  Writers who earn a profit could be jailed for more than 10 years…Although authors of heterosexual erotica have been jailed in China…Gay erotica…seems to bother authorities more…

Enshittification (#1524)

Another factor in the coming dark age: computer-generated garbage making records of this period unreliable:

…the [CGI] slop endgame, for social media companies, is creating a hyper personalized feed full of highly specific [fiction] about anything one could possibly imagine.  Because [CGI] slop is so easy to make and because social media algorithms are so personalized, this means that Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube can feed you anything they…want…Case in point: Facebook…slop…shows [LSU] football coach Brian Kelly assisting in the Texas floods…[on] a Facebook page called LSU Gridiron Glory…[which] is [also] churning out slop that includes Brian Kelly…reacti[ng] to last month’s tragic Air India crash…getting his lost wallet returned to him, donating to the homeless…in the hospital with a rare illness…being deported by Trump, talking to Apple CEO Tim Cook, and…secretly “paying off the debt owed by a struggling gardener”…fans of the NBC show The Voice…[are being fed] slop of judge Blake Shelton saving dogs in the Texas flood…carrying a girl out of a medical clinic…donating to an animal rescue shelter, etc…many of these bizarre images link out to [LLM]-generated “news” websites…overloaded with ads…

Blunt Instrument (#1543)

“Sex trafficking” hysteria laid the groundwork for Trump’s anti-migrant pogroms:

Since January…raids on massage parlors have intensified, targeting immigrant women suspected of sex work…[yet] these workers — among ICE’s most systematically targeted — are largely excluded from community defense…On June 11, ICE and local police in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, raided nine massage parlors, d[isappear]ing 10 Chinese women…into ICE’s sprawling detention system…yet not a single organization called for their release…nearly 1,000 arrests in Queens, New York, targeted immigrant sex workers and street vendors.  In Arizona, over 200 arrests were made.  In Texas, 11 parlors were closed in February and May under emergency powers that bypass criminal charges…In other labor sectors, worksite raids sparked massive outpourings of solidarity and creative resistance..but sex workers are left to fend for themselves…the…immigrant rights movement calibrates its messaging to appeal to moderate respectability — complying with lines drawn between the “deserving” and the disposable…To some, the…[current anti-migrant pogrom]s appear unprecedented.  But for those organizing with sex workers, they’re all too familiar.  For years, ICE has used migrant sex workers as testing grounds for its most aggressive tactics

I Spy (#1543)

Wave bye-bye to the last remaining shreds of your privacy:

…ICE…is now using data from the Insurance Services Office’s ClaimSearch, a private industry service for detecting car and health insurance fraud…ClaimSearch includes 1.8 billion insurance claims and 58 million medical bills—along with the personal data attached to them, including addresses, tax identification numbers, and license plates.  ClaimSearch…[openly admits]…that it grants full access to [any cop shop or spook house which wants it, yet]…Verisk, the company that runs ClaimSearch, [l]ied [by claiming]…ICE…is [somehow an exception, probably because]…ICE has access…through another government agency…[given that] the Trump [regime issued] an [illegal diktat] to tear down “information silos” between federal agencies, and…Palantir…has a contract with ICE to…target [human beings for abduction]…

It is functionally impossible for people to drive anywhere without having their movements tracked.  –  the Institute for Justice

Property of the State

Every “official” involved in this utter and complete abomination should be imprisoned for life:

Adriana Smith, a registered nurse…was nearly nine weeks pregnant in early February when she started experiencing intense headaches…caused by…multiple blood clots in her brain…[but after she] was declared brain dead…[the State of Georgia demanded her cadaver be kept connected to machines] until doctors believe the baby can survive outside the womb — likely at 32 weeks…Under Georgia’s [monstrous]  law, abortion is banned…[even] if the mother’s life is [over]…her medical team is…not legally allowed to consider other options…[despite the fact that the fetus] has fluid on the brain and…may be blind…[or un]able to walk, [or] may not survive…[to add insult to abomination, the family is being stuck with] mounting hospital bills…

Panopticon (#1486)

Surveillance beyond the wildest dreams of the Stasi:

Flock, the automatic license plate reader…company whose cameras [spy on] more than 5,000 communities in the U.S., is building a product that will use [internet search] tools, data brokers, and data breaches to “jump from LPR…to person,” allowing police to [illegal]ly identify and track the movements of specific people…without a warrant or court order…Th[is makes]…Flock…into a much more invasive tool, potentially able to link a vehicle passing by a camera to its owner and then more people connected to them, through marriage or other association…Flock employees [are] questioning the ethics of using hacked data as part of their surveillance product…[but] the tool is already being used by some [cop shops without permission or regulation]…

End Demand (#1505)

Courts curtail the power of cops and prosecutors much too rarely these days:

Does answering a prostitution ad make a man a sex trafficker?  The highest court in Massachusetts says no, in a ruling that represents a win for both common sense and civil liberties…Commonwealth v. Garafalo…involved a [scheme in which cops]…pretending to be…sex workers…arrested men who [answered their fraudulent ads and]…charged them with…sex…trafficking…[but] there was no trafficked person…and taking “every single John, charg[ing] them with sex trafficking, and put[ting] them in prison for five years” was not “the intent” of the sex trafficking law, defense attorney Patrick Noonan told the court…[which agreed] that…Merely agreeing to “the terms extended by [a] sex worker[, real or imaginary,]…cannot reasonably be [considered coercion]”…

The Puritan Recrudescence (#1521)

Politicians won’t be satisfied until they can micromanage every aspect of teens’ lives:

Virginia teens under 16 will soon face [political interference in] their social media usage [under] a…new…law…[demanding] social media companies…set default time limits of one hour per day for [Virginia] users under 16…with parents having the ability to adjust that time up or down.  [Politicians congratulated themselves on their self-imagined wisdom and power, ignoring the fact that all a teen will need to do is use a VPN to appear to be someplace other than Virginia]…

Property of the State (#1529)

How long will Western society allow cops and prosecutors to terrorize traumatized women?

[UK] police have been issued guidance on how to [raid] women’s homes [in search of] abortion drugs and [snoop in] their phones for menstrual cycle tracking apps after unexpected pregnancy loss…the National Police Chiefs’ Council…on “child death investigation”…also suggests a woman’s digital devices could be [stolen] to help [prosecu]tors “establish a woman’s knowledge and intention in relation to the pregnancy”.  That could [also] include [snooping into] a woman’s internet searches [and] messages to friends and family…Details are also provided for how police could [illegally] bypass legal requirements for a court order to [pry into her] medical records…The Abortion Act of 1967 allows women to end their pregnancies under medical supervision up to 24 weeks, or beyond…if the life of the mother is at risk or if the foetus has a serious abnormality…Leading abortion providers, legal experts and medical professionals have…called for [the new guidelines] to be amended…

The Cop Myth (#1533)

They tried to hide this murderer’s cop identity by shoving it down to paragraph 20:

[A cop named Gregory Guilfoyle who was] convicted of shooting his wife and leaving her for dead in a blizzard was sentenced to 100 years in prison by an Indiana judge May 12…Hannah Lynch…nearly died in her own front yard with a gunshot wound to her head.  She has a permanent shunt in her skull…lost part of her toe to frostbite…[and] had to relearn most of her basic motor skills…She was also pregnant at the time of the shooting and lost the baby…three of four experts at trial suggested that Guilfoyle was insane…[and] Guilfoyle [himself blamed the attempted murder on]…his [being a cop]…and…[claims] that he was hallucinating at the time…the jury found Guilfoyle “guilty but mentally ill”…[which means] he will receive psychiatric treatment [while in prison]…

Welcome to the Future (#1537)

Anyone who trusts Zuckerberg is out of his mind:

Mark Zuckerberg…[is] pitching a [dystopian] future where [computer programs] give people something that “knows them well,” not just as pals, but as…therapists…but this future is already…starting to seem extraordinarily dangerous…we’re watching the impending collision of two alarming trends.  In one, tech executives are encouraging people to reveal ever more intimate details to [their computers], soliciting things users…may not even tell their closest friends.  In the other, the government is obsessed with obtaining a nearly unprecedented level of surveillance and control over residents’ minds…with little regard for legal or ethical restraints.  [The Trump regime]…has indiscriminately arrested and revoked the residency of legal immigrants on the basis of legally protected speech and activism…announced plans to build a federal database…of people with autism…and…is…working to centralize data about Americans that’s currently stored across different agencies…[while] US residents are being urged to discuss their mental health conditions and personal beliefs with chatbots…whose owners are cozy with the [regime]…

Just because these tools act like your friend doesn’t mean that they are.  –  Miranda Bogen

The Widening Gyre (#928)

Georgia cops are still destroying lives over racist “brat snatching” fantasies:

After [being locked for] 45 days in a…Georgia…jail on a [bogus] charge of attempted kidnapping, Mahendra Patel was released on…bond…Patel, 57, was arrested on March 18 and initially denied bail after a [hysterical racist] accused him of trying to kidnap her 2-year-old son in a…[crowded] Walmart…[in actuality] Patel approached…Caroline Miller…to ask for help finding Tylenol.  Miller was sitting on a motorized shopping cart…for disabled customers (even though she is not disabled) and had [the] toddler…on her lap…[But because] Patel [is brown, Miller turned that innocent interaction into]…”I had to rip my baby out of some…man’s hands because he was trying to snatch him”…However, security footage shown during Patel’s latest bail hearing…[shows] that Patel…was merely trying to help stabilize the toddler as the mother began standing up from the cart…Witnesses also [contradicted]…Miller’s story…[but] Prosecutor Jesse Evans [wants to ruin an immigrant’s life]…and…[is doubling down on his fantasy of catching a dangerous] criminal…

Pyrrhic Victory (#1417)

Fools refuse to grasp what a danger biometric identification actually is:

Sam Altman…[has] announced…a new…eye-scanning orb….[which] scans [gullible fools’] irises, creates a unique user ID, stores that information on the blockchain, and uses it as a form of identity verification…the [sales pitch claims] it could ostensibly thwart [the same] scammers…enable[d]…by [Altman’s] other startup, OpenAI…So the World app, and its hardware component, are Altman’s solution to [a self-created] problem…whiffs of a scam have plagued the startup since it launched…[though it] claims…12 million users have been verified with the orb.  The company says it expects to generate revenue…through fees paid by [busybodies who want people’s] identities verified…But World is also a for-profit cryptocurrency company that…has been criticized by privacy advocates…[for] explicitly marketing its services to countries with a high percentage of unbanked or underbanked citizens, and…[bribing] people to sign up and have their irises scannedBrazil and Hong Kong have [already] banned Worldcoin [and its attendant] features…KenyaPortugal, and Spain [have] all instituted temporary restrictions…

Thought Control (#1472)

A small victory for American ideals, but a victory nonetheless:

…the majority of candidates backed by pro-censorship organizations like Moms for Liberty lost their school board races in Texas on [May 3rd, demonstrating]…that the tide may be turning against the…pro-censorship [cult]…in [urban], suburban, and rural districts [alike, even]…candidates backed by big money [authoritarian groups]…In another victory for grassroots groups fighting for intellectual freedom, in Florida, a bill that would have redefined “harmful to minors”…to [mean whatever any politician or other wannabe censor points at while barfing that phrase]…died in session on [May 2nd]…

No Escape (#1475)

The human and financial costs of our society’s sick infatuation with incarceration are staggering:

Another 10 men who were [locked in cages by the state of Oregon as teenagers]…are suing the state [because] the longtime p[hys]ician at the facility…sexually abus[ed] them.  More than 20 men [were molested by] Dr. Edward Gary Edwards…and…[screws, staff, nurses, and] officials at the [cage stack] ignor[ed] the[ir complaints] and [intentionally] allow[ed the abuse] to continue.  Edwards worked…at the [prison] for more than four decades…[and] died in February…The abuse was so well-known…he…had a nickname: “Dr. Cold Fingers”…[his victims] are seeking $51 million…[this is only] the latest lawsuit [against Oregon’s juvenile dungeon system].  Emily Echtenkamp…was convicted in March of sexually abusing [one victim]…

The Last Shall Be First (#1521)

What kind of warped mind thinks it’s OK for male cops to barge into a women’s bathroom?

A [lesbian] couple…were [h]arrassed…[by a male security guard in a women’s restroom]…at The Liberty Hotel [in Boston]…Ansley Baker and…Liz Victor…went to a Kentucky Derby party at the hotel [on May 3rd, but] their afternoon ended when hotel security [barged into] the women’s restroom and…started banging on the stall doors.  Baker [presents in a masculine fashion]…and…the…creep…[demanded her] ID…to check [her] gender…[When he was shown to be an idiot he demanded] the couple…leave the hotel…and [lied to management that] they [were]…”sharing a bathroom stall”…and [had attacked] “our security team”…even…[though] there was only one [guard]…

Shame, Shame (#1535)

Zuckerberg is out of his mind:

Mark Zuckerberg has a new way to invade your privacy: a creepier version of [Cat, I Farted].  Last week, Facebook…launched…a dedicated home for [its LLM] chatbot.  The app, which climbed to No. 2 on the iPhone free download charts, promises users a more “personalized” [chatbot] with tailored answers and [“]advice[“].  And it includes a new social network for people to share their [chatbot] conversations and images.  But [it accomplishes this “personalization” via] surveillance…drawing on years of personal information tracked by its sister apps Facebook and Instagram…it buil[ds] a so-called memory file…that…by default ke[eps] a copy of everything…said to it — to tailor its responses…to train a future version of [the LLM] and, eventually, [to] target [users] with ads…push[ing] the limits on privacy in ways that go much further than rivals [Cat, I Farted] or [Google] Gemini…Whatever you chat about with [the computer], just picture Zuckerberg watching…

Torture Chamber (#1536)

The State tortures thousands of people for crossing an imaginary line:

The Trump [regime] has created a human rights crisis with its draconian, made-for-TV campaign of mass deportation…three people died inside [concentration camps] in April alone, bringing the total…since Trump returned to [power] to at least seven…Brayan Garzón-Rayo, a 27-year-old man from Colombia…died on April 8…in Missouri…Nhon Nguc Nguyen, 55, from Vietnam, died on April 16 after [being caged for] two months…in Texas…Marie Ange Blaise, a 44-year-old citizen of Haiti…died on April 25…after several weeks of being shuffled between [camps] in Louisiana, Florida and Puerto Rico…dozens of people have died preventable deaths in…ICE…con[centration camps] in the past, and…conditions are rapidly deteriorating as the [regime] packs facilities as part of [the mad emperor’s] war on immigrants…there are [currently] nearly 50,000 people [crammed into the camps, and]…Trump [wants]…to [add] 84,000 more

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.  –  John Jessup

Above the Law

He wasn’t a “former” cop when he molested a teen girl for two years:

The division director for the Georgia Police Academy…Samuel Ray Ham was arrested…[for] child molestation and aggravated sexual battery…[because he repeatedly molested] a girl…under…16…for around two years…

Buried Truth

Yet another example of McNeill’s Law:

A…[Utah] psychologist [named]…Robert Virgil Dindinger…[has been arrested and] faces…charges of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor…Dindinger [is a proponent of “porn addiction” pseudoscience and]…was the author of Pornography Addiction Breaking the Chains…Dindinger [was first reported to police] in November 2023 [by] a [patient]…he [treated from age]…13 [to] 16…three other…juvenile patients…[reported him for touching them and]…order[ing] them to…weigh themselves [in front of him] while nude…[cops tossed] Dindinger’s home in 2024…[and found] flash drives…contain[ing child porn]…videos…

If Men Were Angels

No religion has a monopoly on preachy molesters:

Shane Wiggins, pastor of Baldwin Baptist Mission Church, Baldwin, Louisiana, was arrested [on] April 9…[for] rape and molestation…Wiggins [was reported on]…December 17…[by the] mother of [his victim, so]…he [fled to]…Paris, Texas…where…he…was [caught in a traffic stop]…

Above the Law (#1263)

Rapist politicians generally prefer to assault drunk women:

A…[typical and representative] Indiana [politician named]…John Jessup…[raped his own daughter in Las Vegas after getting her drunk, but] pleaded guilty…to attempted sexual assault…in addition to [an 8-20 year] prison sentence, Jessup will be [condemned] to [the] sex offender [registry]…Jessup’s daughter…chose to identify herself publicly…after voters elected [him] despite the allegations…[in typical politician fashion,] Jessup…blamed others, including his daughter, for his conduct…and…[his] defense attorney…described Jessup [pleading to a lesser charge] as…“He confessed to save his soul”…

To Molest and Rape (ROTW #19)

They’re trying to hide this child rapist’s cophood by saying it was only for a “short stint” and saving it for the very last line of the story:

A [typical and representative Pennsylvania cop named]…Corey James Botelho was found guilty on…[multiple] counts…of [vaginal, anal, and oral] rape of a child…for…approximately seven years…[when she] was between 8 and 15 years old…Botelho…had…a…“familial relationship” [with] the victim…[but had] previously [also stalked victims] as a coach…
