May the reawakening of the world bring with it the reawakening of good things you thought gone forever. Blessed Be!

The apparent path of the sun reached its southernmost point at 9:20 UTC today, the exact moment this posted; that makes this the shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and the longest day of the year in the Southern. This is a time for remembrance, renewal and rebirth; I wish for all my readers the blessings of the season, and pray that all of you get all you hope for in the new year. Blessed Be!

Prostitution is to my knowledge the only “crime” which is entirely defined by its motive. – “Lack of Evidence”
Adult women are ADULTS. It isn’t the job of strangers, nor that of “rescue” organizations or the government, to police their private lives. – “Thought Experiment”
To anyone who knows anything at all about the origin and development of Christmas, the insistence by American Christians that the holiday belongs to them and them alone is bizarre indeed; it’s rather like someone buying a used car, giving it a new paint job, and then declaring that he was the inventor of the internal combustion engine. – “Christmas Eve 2012”
In a very real sense, Christmas is literally as old as civilization, and we owe the majority of what makes us more than just high-falutin’ monkeys to [an] ancient event that we now only remember in myths of a time when life was easy.
– “Yule 2013”
There are still far too many…who want sex workers silent, invisible, and preferably caged, enslaved, or dead. – “Before It Gets Better“

Though worlds and suns are considerably longer-lived than we, they too must eventually perish in the fullness of time. – “Let There Be Dark”
“Every single thing in the Cosmos is mortal, and will pass away in its time. [Organisms and empires alike] rise, thrive, decline, and fall, to be replaced by younger ones which then decline and fall in their time…crumbling into dust and passing first into memory, then legend, and eventually beyond the horizon of sentient knowledge.”

The apparent path of the sun crosses the celestial equator southbound at 12:43 UTC today, making this the first day of autumn in the Northern Hemisphere and the first of spring in the Southern. This is the time of harvest, when plans come to fruition; it is also the harbinger of the time of rest, especially for Daughters of Darkness like myself who are exhausted and overstimulated by the long days of summer. But even if you’re not a fan of the growing gloom, I hope you can enjoy the cooler days and hold summer in your heart while waiting for its return, just as I wait patiently through the long, bright days for the time that best reflects my inner landscape.
Blessed Be!

Given the…lack of viewer response, we weren’t sure the signal was even getting out of the building. – Bob Newhart
Since I liked the last video of a TV superhero performing “Orange Colored Sky” that he sent me, the same gentleman sent me this one. The links above it were provided by Mike Siegel, IncarcerNation, Radley Balko, Anarres Ansible, and Nun Ya, in that order.
- R.I.P. Bob Newhart.
- “Never” really does mean never.
- The Drug War has descended into self-parody.
- “Smart” devices aren’t, part umpteen thousand.
- These “officials” don’t seem to know what Bacchus stood for.
From the Archives
- It’s probably a bad idea to accept the offer of a job you aren’t qualified for.
- “Sex trafficking magnet” tall tales been reduced mostly to pathetic reruns.
- When the victim is a small child, rapist cops sometimes get comeuppance.
- I’m sure they occasionally yelled “Stop faking!” at him as he wasted away.
- On Beijing’s aggressive campaign to silence Chinese people outside China.
- Do airlines really want liability for employees racially profiling passengers?
- It does not help victims of State brutality to infantilize them as “children”.
- The bipartisan war on the internet is past even trying to look reasonable.
- Laws enabling nuisance lawsuits will multiply until ruled unconstitutional.
- The return of a silly fantasy we haven’t seen much in the past few years.
- “This bill is not about kids’ safety, because it will put their safety at risk”.
- My 1st profession is now as much a target for authoritarians as my 2nd.
- Cops will never stop doing this as long as the state gives them pretexts.
- When will amateurs learn that the War on Whores affects them as well?
- Parents should keep kids far away from both cops and “youth pastors”.
- Prohibition can never succeed, regardless of the substance prohibited.
- This is sick even by the abysmal standards of US “sex offender” laws.
- Ballard’s increasingly-bizarre antics upset his partners in profiteering.
- Cops don’t like non-cops falsely accusing people of imaginary crimes.

- Amazon only likes fascist surveillance schemes it owns and controls.
- Any information you give to cops can and will be used against you.
- “Progressives” want everyone forced into “regulated” collectives.

I find paywalls distasteful, and so many people find this blog valuable as a resource I just can’t bring myself to install one. Furthermore, I find ad delivery services (whose content I have no say over) even more distasteful. But as I’m now semi-retired from sex work, I can’t self-sponsor this blog by myself any longer. So if you value my writing enough that you would pay to see it if it were paywalled, please consider subscribing; there are four different levels to fit all budgets. Or if that doesn’t work for you, please consider showing your generosity with a one-time donation; you can Paypal to maggiemcneill@earthlink.net or else email me at the same address to make other arrangements. Thanks so much!
