The ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people, but the silence over that by the good people. – Martin Luther King, Jr.
Two weeks ago, Human Rights Watch issued a report on the official abuse of sex workers in China, and it was covered by every major media outlet in the world; I saw a plethora of links to the story on Twitter, and many readers sent them as well. Here’s the one from the Guardian:
China’s high-profile crackdowns on prostitution have made sex workers more vulnerable to abuse by police and clients while failing to curb the trade…Women described being assaulted by police and other security officials until they admitted to being sex workers, leading to them being fined or detained for up to two years without trial…Prostitution largely disappeared in the Mao era but has flourished since China’s economic reforms began. The United Nations estimates that between 4 million and 6 million adult women are engaged in sex work…Authorities have launched frequent drives against the sex industry, but…while such campaigns see hundreds of women rounded up, brothels often continue to operate with little obvious difficulty…three years ago the ministry of public security ordered an end to the public shaming of sex workers and said they should be treated more respectfully [but] problems remain widespread…Nicholas Bequelin, senior Asia researcher for Human Rights Watch…said that one of the problems was that fines were a major source of revenue for the police…
This will of course all be familiar to regular readers, though I’m not sure what to make of the Graun’s touchingly-naïve acceptance of Maoist propaganda that there was no prostitution in the Glorious Workers’ Paradise. Perceptive readers will also note that these same (or similar) abuses are widespread in Western criminalization regimes:
…police violence, arbitrary detention of up to two years in “re-education through labor” and “custody and education” centers, and coercive HIV testing…police [abuses include]…torture, beatings, physical assaults, arbitrary detentions, and fines, as well as a failure to investigate crimes against sex workers by clients, bosses, and state agents…“In China, the police often act as if by engaging in sex work, women had forfeited their rights,” said Sophie Richardson, China director at Human Rights Watch. “The government must abandon its repressive laws against sex workers, discipline abusive police, and end the suppression of sex workers rights advocates”…
All those things happen in the USA as well, including the “re-education” being sold as an “alternative” to imprisonment in some jurisdictions; America also makes extensive use of sleazy tactics like “naming and shaming”, tax audits, stealing sex workers’ children and bogus felony charges (“conspiracy”, “money laundering”, etc) which are apparently not so common in China. But while Human Rights Watch flatly recommends decriminalization in China (“China should…enact legislation to remove criminal and administrative sanctions against voluntary, consensual sex work [and] stop periodic police anti-prostitution ‘sweeps’, which do more harm than good”), its only statement on US prostitution law was a weak request to stop using condoms as evidence (an equivalent level of response in the Chinese report might have been “please limit sex workers’ detention to six months and always wear condoms while raping them”). Furthermore, though Western journalists were happy to spread the news of China’s persecution of whores, they are just as happy to spread prohibitionist propaganda and maintain a politic silence about the horrific human rights abuses committed by Western police and officials. Consider, for example, the rosy picture painted by the Swedish government and advocates of their “model”; supposedly, it reduces prostitution while not harming women in any way. Contrast that with the truth which the mainstream media won’t report:
…The police have big difficulties in catching the clients so the activities are now aimed against sex workers. To chase the girls requires plenty of resources and is not possible without employing policemen just for this – “Cunt Hunters”…I was visiting Trondheim for work in May 2012. At the evening of the first day the boss of the apartment hiring company came to the condo and threw me out…Two [cops] were observing, disguised as repairmen who were been circulating in the stairs…They had watched my advert in the internet, called me pretending to be clients, came watching and after that had called the director…[who] refused to [refund my rent]… Trondheim’s…Propaganda Department of the Police [says that they] aim to make Trondheim unattractive as a working place by first finding the sex workers and after that taking their clients away…and [evicting them] from hotels…
That was written by an escort from Norway (her English is excellent, but I did make a few slight edits for readability; you will note that like me, she refers to client criminalization as the “Swedish disease”). Though her description of the abuses is unusually thorough, it is by no means the only narrative of its kind…though you wouldn’t know it from reading the mainstream media, who are so invested in portraying Sweden as a “feminist paradise” that the considerable evidence to the contrary is almost totally ignored:
A Swedish court has cleared three teenagers accused of rape for inserting a wine bottle in a girl’s vagina until she started bleeding…the men pinned her down on the bed and pried her legs open before inserting the…bottle…One of [them] allegedly told her not to report the incident to the police, which she nonetheless did…[the] court…ruled that…she may have kept her legs together initially out of modesty…
Imagine the outcry if this had happened in India. Since “everybody knows” Asian countries are misogynistic hellholes of repression, watchdog groups readily chastise them and journalists eagerly report any story which serves to reinforce the narrative. But when it comes to countries which “everybody knows” are champions of gender equity, fair treatment and civil rights, the silence from those same groups is deafening.
On this Swedish rape (and it WAS rape if her version was correct) …
WHAT … THE … FUCK?
Who was the judge presiding over that case … and was he wearing a keffiyeh? That’s absolutely Mohammedan.
I was initially outraged at this story – but after reading it – they don’t mention any medical evidence to prove the girl’s version of the story. This initially led me to believe that the court had looked at the evidence and decided in the men’s favor.
However, after reading that asinine statement about how the girl should have kept her legs shut “out of modesty” … I’m not so sure we’re dealing with people on the right side of the bell curve here.
What with Neofeminist hysterics, Sharia-drunk camel-pesterers, Journalistic malfeasance, and Liberal Intellectual Radical Progressive juris-un-prudence it rapidly becomes impossible to tell what you are looking at in a case like this. Is the charge so much hogwash? Is the court protecting Islamic animals? WTF?
Probably.

Yeah, it is a little difficult to figure out wtf is going on and who is going on with it. Take a look at this little gem and their description of the rioters. Don’t miss the Swedish notion of fair parking enforcement, though.
I saw that story earlier but didn’t find any mention of sex work there. Still — if the police see somebody set fire to a car and aren’t willing to arrest him/her, I’m bloody well going to do something about it myself. All social contracts have to go both ways.
Absolutely … Absolutely!! And this is precisely the mistake that today’s corrupt pols are making. For instance – when you target one group of people for their political beliefs – then you have given those people the moral authority to assert their rights through other means.
No, not any issue of sex work, but the staggering irrationality of the process. She’s ticketing the driver of the car for not displaying the entrance stub with its imprint of the arrival time in the windshield in a car with its interior having been burnt out prior to the meter checker’s arrival. If their system allows that level of cluelessness when the cause of the “infraction” is so patently obvious, I’m not sure you can expect better understanding in a more complex case.
You said it better than I could right now. Good Job!!!
The basic fact is she went into a bedroom with 3 men. If she comes out without needing surgery it probably wasn’t rape
Well … that’s a joke right? I mean – I had a colonoscopy last week and a nurse wheeled me into the procedure room with another nurse and a doctor.
Now, if the doc had shoved something else besides the scope up my brownie – then I’m pretty sure I’d have a strong case that I didn’t “consent” to that “something else”. I was there for a colonoscopy and only that.
I think the reasonable man says the girl had expectations when she entered the room with those guys – but being raped wasn’t one of them.
See this is where Big Mean Daddies can fill a hole in the legal system – if the girl had one – he could take care of these dudes pronto.
May be trolling. Definitely asshole.
I think you read it the wrong way. The court stated that the girl could have kept her legs shut out of modesty or because she was hesitant at first.
In any case, I find it very hard to judge a court’s judgement without access to ALL the information available. This whole case seems to be one where no evidence was present at all and then it is hard to convict someone. That is how I read the court’s statement:
We cannot dismiss the possibility that she wanted to have sex, but kept her legs closed out of modesty or because she was hesitant. Therefore we cannot prove that she was raped or it was just a sexual encounter that went bad, albeit it was consensual.
I think that the citation in this post is not very well chosen.
I read the link about the Escort in Norway complaining about the Swedish Disease. She is right and is saying what Maggie McNeal and I’ve said all along. It’s now all about persecuting male heterosexuals who want sex and are willing to pay prostitutes. She also mentions that since the men are difficult to catch, that they are now going after the whores because they are easier targets. I’ve said that the reason why prostitutes are hated so much is because they are the strikebreakers on the Union of Women most of whom in the West are now to one degree or another feminasties(neo-feminists in Maggie McNeal’s, MM’s, term and not sensible feminists(anarcho-feminists in MM’s term) like Maggie McNeal is. The Escort in Norway also implies that since it no longer acceptable to persecute homosexuals it’s now acceptable to persecute male heterosexuals especially if they pay whores for sex and by extention the whores as well, and I agree. Despite what the Feminasties and their brainwashed brain dead allies who are men and women tell you, the women who are whores aren’t usually coerced or abused and they do this because it is their best financial option. The men who pay the whores, Professionals, do this not because they are bad people who hate women as the Feminasties et. al tell you, but because the men would like to as much sex and the kinds of sex as they can which is not being fulfilled by amatuers, alleged non-whores, or these men are paying women to go away so they don’t have to deal with the drama as Charlie Sheen is an iconic example.
I’ve even seen commenters on Seduction, GAME, blogs who have stated that they pay for Whores even though they were good at Game to get the amount of sex they wanted, the kinds of sex they wanted and with at least physically (and maybe personality wise) the kinds of women they wanted without the drama. They also got weary of the anti-male, MISANDRY, laws and social norms being enforced. They said that a true Professional(prostitute) at least when she is working is the most honest women a man will ever meet and that most prostitutes are true professionals especially in countries where prostitution has been (legalized and) decriminalized like Germany or New Zealand or if it is still a criminal act where the prostitution laws are not enforced like South Korea. I realize that these are not perfect examples but they are much better than my home country the USA last time I heard.
St. Augustine of Hippo and St. Thomas Aquinas had similar views about prostitution namely that without it lust would overthrow society and that it should be permitted by the civil government even though it was in a Christian sense morally wrong to ensure harm reduction in this world. They were right. Whether you agree with GAME or think it is false is something I really would like to argue one way or the other although I do think one side is definitely more true than the other. The point is if the divorce laws, VAWA, the social norms, the prostitution laws etc. hadn’t become so MISANDRIC, then these GAME sites would be far fewer than they are now to maybe non-existent. Even the GAME sites I read agree. Not all GAME sites advocate ruthless PUMPING.DUMPING and NEXTING of women for sexual gratification instead of entering relationships, but many do, and this is why I supported St. Augustine of Hippo’s and St. Thomas’s theories on this among other reasons at least in theory if not in practicality or my own personal life or other’s personal lives. Good going(SARCASM) FEMINASTIES, you now have a higher percentage of men now who want to use women for physical sexual gratification and then discard them without any remorse for any possible emotional damage they may cause these women just because you are man hating and can not understand cause and effect very well. And YES, FEMINASTIES, this horrible state of affairs is more your fault than anyone else’s because you set the conditions and environment for this. I fail to see how this is going to end well.
This may be long but I hope well worth the read. No, I’m not angry or at least I’m trying not to be. I am however trying to point out that actions have consequences. If you make people miserable don’t be surprised if they make you more miserable in ways you never thought in their own self interest to get what they want. Be careful before you change something and try to leave the world a better place than what you found it if you can is my advice.
Most women is the West? There was a recent poll in Germany on the subject of criminalizing prostitution, and less than one in five Germans (17 percent) supported a ban.
Now, the figure for women was slightly higher (19 percent) than for men (14 percent), but still, 76 percent of the women asked support legal prostitution.
Ok, I acknowledge that Germany has long been exceptional in this regard unlike the USA. This really applies more to the USA than any other Western nation. I’ll bet that most women like the divorce set up in the West where the wife usually gets the children and to remain in the home while the man has to leave and provide child support, alimony etc. in most of these Western nations and this is certainly true in the USA. This is even true in the USA when there is no fault divorce, and the women file for divorce about two-thirds of the time first. I’ve heard most other Western nations are similar. I think a lot of men would never bother to get married if they could get sex more easily by being able to legally purchase this service from a prostitute such as the circumstances in Germany. I’ve also heard that the Germans marry at a lower rate and later on average than Americans as well as German men want to get married less often on average than American men. Something to ponder, isn’t it?
I’ll give you a “deafening silence” in this whole trafficking fiasco that’s going on in the states right now. Try this one on for size – read this article that just came out in the Las Vegas Review Journal, a newspaper that covers the whole state of Nevada. http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/las-vegas/nevada-movement-draws-line-human-trafficking There’s a series of five articles in this paper “all” about sex trafficking in Nevada. Now go through those pieces and what you “won’t” find in there is very interesting indeed. Go those these clippings here http://www.hightechmadam.blogspot.com/2010/08/news-clippingsbiography.html and you’ll find a series of articles from A-Z about a little group now called Sex Workers Anonymous. Only not so little – they are worldwide and their international hotline has processed well over 300,000 phone calls from prostitutes and trafficking victims since it’s birth in 1987. The group was founded by an ex-escort and ex-madam who not only knew that adult sex workers needed a group where they could get support to transition out of the sex industry, but also that most trafficking victims are usually being trafficked either by pimps who are cops, or who have cops backing them up somehow. This is knowledge from firsthand experience of not only herself – but probably about 1/2 of the people who call her for help. If you google the case of Chris Butler in California – this is a high profile case where an ex-cop had current cops not only help him traffick prostitutes through his massage parlor, but also he used these cops to “shake down” other madams and prostitutes who were not part of his operation. Or Kemp Schiffer who was an IRS agent that once worked at the Mustang Ranch, who then went rogue and used his contacts to traffick girls in and out of both California and Nevada who operated his trafficking ring for over 11 years before the police caught him. We all know that Jeane Palfrey, the D.C. Madam, exposed that one of her escorts, Brandy Britton, used to be David Vitter’s favorite. During her trial she was found hung in her living room with no suicide note. Then right before Jeane could release more than she had previously, she said would make David Vitter and Randall Tobias’ name look like “kindergarden” as she told the founder of this group who had been in secret contact with her for two years before she was found dead by hanging in a back shed on her mother’s property. When this founder, Jody Williams, called the lead detective in Jeane’s case and threatened to go to the media with their emails between each other if there was not a full murder investigation done on her – hours later there was a bogus search warrant executed and 5 cops and a drug dog descended upon her home looking for anything illegal they could to arrest her on, and the emails to confiscate. But Jody was prepared – because many of the actual trafficking victims who come ot her for help do have cops who try and then find them to either threaten them , retrieve them, or worse – so of course the emails, and nothing illegal, was on the property. Frustrated with having to leave empty-handed, the cops then proceeded to start leaning on her landlord to try and forcibly and illegally evict her while issuing threats about “leaving the state” and stopping her work. Right now, Sex Workers Anonymous is the oldest, and the largest, group of survivors of both prostitution and trafficking in existence. Jody has never incorporated as a nonprofit because that could expose the members to having the files invaded – something she will not let happen. “Imagine the outcry if this had happened in India. ”
The Swedish press doesn’t dare report these rapes because they are, almost without exception, committed by young muslim men who are intentionally waging jihad – rape being a standard tactic of such warfare. To admit this would seem racist.
There’s a tendency to miss things which fail to support our stereotypes, sometimes on purpose and sometimes just because it isn’t recognized.
