This call was little peculiar for us. – murder apologist Troy Livingston
Though there are plenty of falling domino videos on the internet, I’m enchanted by the whimsy and cleverness of the presentations designed by Hevesh, the lady who created last week’s Christmas video. The links above the video were provided by ManCrack, Adjective Girl, Tim Cushing, Mike Siegel, Scott Greenfield, and Radley Balko, in that order.

Trigger-happy cops make too much so dangerous! I wonder how much more likely one is to be shot by police than anyone else. The first time I was ever pulled over, I was driving at night and alone for the first time (and probably the 6th time ever driving at all.) I was driving around with parking lights only, and was pulled over by four cop cars and a K-9 unit for little old me! It was terrifying. One time, I woke up a neighbor’s window being blown out by SWAT- for some missing industrial boiler they did not recover there. And at least they thought to evacuate (most of) the place I was staying last winter during a hostage situation.
I called the cops once because I thought I was legally required to. I was renting through a house sitting gig, thought up by a realtor working for a property management company. It was a way to offer cheap rent while keeping places occupied and free of squatters and copper wire thieves before the properties were sold. Someone broke in through my bedroom window, rummaged and stole an Xbox. I got to see ineptitude and inefficiency in action. Being a hand-me-down I hadn’t used, I didn’t have proper identifying information for it, so nothing could be done (and had I been in possession of it, it’d only potentially be recovered from a pawn shop.) The only useful information I got was which papers to show, if any police officer questioned my living there.
I lie to Uber drivers about what I do. I’m usually “a temp worker for conventions” and on my way to see “friends” or “family.” On occasion, they ask if I work at whatever hotel/casino and I’ll say, “Yes.”
I wonder how many websites will be taken down before prostitution is decriminalized. It’ll probably be long after I’m done with it. I started getting clients through reviews I didn’t know I had starting last February. That’s where I’ve gotten the majority of new business for the last 5-6 months, so it’s pretty lucky that I started getting them.
Concerning copyright, I will simply observe that Mark Twain felt that the work of a man’s mind should be his property forever. Assignable to his heirs, or transferable by sale. And I’m not sure he was wrong.
The problem being, since authors who died before such a policy could be put in place did not specifically assign ownership to one particular heir, it would devolve on all possible common law heirs equally. That is a recipe for chaos.
Regarding Immigration; the Immigration (read; illegal immigration) problem really boils down to Mexico being a failed State. As far as I know, Mexico has not been well governed in recorded history. The real solution might well be conquest, but that is now horribly unfashionable. So we are left with half-measures.
