Regular readers know that every Friday the Thirteenth, I ask those who aren’t sex workers to stand up for us. If you’re one of them, you already know the sorts of things I’m going to say; if you aren’t, you can simply go back and read the essay for the previous occurence last August, which contained quotes and links for every occurence of this particular day and date combination. And if you value all the work I’ve done fighting for sex workers over the past 13 years, a concrete sign of that would be very much appreciated.
Friday the Thirteenth Yet Again

I surely do “value all of the work” that you’ve done “fighting for sex workers” over the years. And have periodically said so, though it seems that it’s been awhile:

Bit of a “funny business” in a way with some seriously problematic aspects to it, although much of the latter is due to rather overly draconian laws and antediluvian attitudes to sex in general.
But I will readily admit, and have readily and publicly admitted, to having availed myself of the services of many “ladies of the night”, those underneath the lamposts, over some 30 years. For which I am profoundly grateful – saved my bacon if not my soul in more ways than one. Owe them and the profession something of an epic debt which this comment is only a small contribution towards discharging.
As an escort and madam once put it in an exchange I’d had with her:
“Mental health, physical health — and marriage counseling. Escorts do it all”

Amen to that lady, amen to that.
