If everyone grew up to be what he or she wanted to be in childhood we would have a workforce made up almost entirely of firemen, ballerinas, astronauts, teachers, cowboys and nurses. – “Amazingly Stupid Statements

Tripod

Recently I commented on Twitter that the chance of an all-amateur threesome being awful is approximately 100%, and that if you want a good threesome you really need to hire a professional (or even two).  Naturally, I got some blowback from this, because amateurs – especially a certain subset of female amateurs – are very intimidated by the fact (yes, I said “fact”) that professionals are better at sex than they are.  As I wrote in “Don’t Try This At Home“, “ Part of the reason is that we get a lot more practice, and part is necessity…we have to be better at it because our livelihoods depend on it.”  How many different partners does the average amateur have vs the average pro?  How many times does the average amateur practice per week, and in how many different ways?  How many different skills does the average amateur take time to learn, and how much practice does she get in setting boundaries, resolving conflicts, etc?  But the most important question of all is,  Why is this so controversial?  In every other field of human endeavor, the idea that professionals are generally better at whatever-it-is than amateurs is a given; it’s why the term “amateur” can be used in a pejorative manner.  Except when the subject is sex, “You should probably hire a pro to do that” is usually considered good and wholly uncontroversial advice for any compex task that requires greater skill and experience than the average amateur is likely to have.  And believe me, threesomes are complicated; even some professionals don’t like to do them because of the possibility of couple drama:

The first thing I always establish…[is] that the wife [is] in control…since she might become jealous by seeing another woman touching her husband, she [has] the right to speak up if…something…[makes] her uncomfortable.  Sitting close to both of them, I…point out that they…called me to help them experience something novel and exciting, but that it wasn’t for everyone so if the wife [feels] overwhelmed or freaked out she need[s] to say something immediately…

You think even experienced amateurs (except, perhaps, experienced kinksters) go to that trouble?  It is to laugh.  They just dive in without any discussion of what the session should even look like, and then are surprised when all the various disasters one reads about in amateurs’ silly articles happen.  The Daily Beast declared “Threesomes are Actually a Terrible Idea“; the Daily Mail presented “10 Reasons Why Having a Threesome is a Bad Idea” (SCIENCE!), and the anti-sex-despite-its-name Vice helpfully shared “People Explain Why Threesomes Are Boring and Evil“.  As you might expect, all of these are deeply stupid and woefully ignorant, and only the Beast article even mentions the word “professional” (and even there, it’s bizarrely referring to the male as being the one in need of professional skills).  Even when jealousy isn’t a factor (and believe me, it can sometimes pop up even in situations that at first seem safe), motivation and direction are.  Amateurs aren’t getting paid, so they want to have “fun” and get sulky when they feel left out or lose steam before the others do.  And if all three are equally incompetent, who’s going to manage things?  Because, dear reader, somebody has to.  See, the title of this essay is ironic; a threesome isn’t evenly-balanced like a tripod, though that’s what amateurs believe and expect; it’s more like a parent taking two overexcited kids to the zoo for the first time.  Or, in the case of a duo, two parents taking one kid.  That’s why most pros generally prefer to work with a specific duo partner (for me it’s Lorelei Rivers); it’s much easier to provide a good experience with a partner one knows well than to try to wing it with someone who can’t read one’s non-verbal cues as reliably.  And as any parent can tell you, things always go more smoothly when the people running the show are on the same page.

Drawing a line between “sexual exploitation” and “labour exploitation” in itself suggests that sex work is not work.  –  Borislav Gerasimov

Do As I Say, Not As I Do

The utter vileness of a pig talking dirty to another pig who’s pretending to be a kid cannot be overstated:

A…[DEA pig]…spent his time trying to arrange sex and soliciting naked pictures from [another pig fantasy role-playing as] a 14-year-old boy…Frederick Scheinin…of…Queens…faces charges…of attempting to…produce child pornography.  “As a [thug] at the DEA, Frederick Scheinin’s foremost responsibility was to [persecute minorities for enjoying themselves in a way their rulers don’t like],” said Geoffery Berman, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York…

Drawing Lines

Think we should tell these ninnies that actresses & whores were until recently considered the same profession?

…[minor actresses]…are being propositioned daily by strangers with offers of [money]…for sex [just as they always have been]…”It’s high-end prostitution – it’s just scary”…[some woman named] Tyne-Lexy Clarson [absurdly whined]…after starring in series two of Love Island, an agency emailed, offering her £50,000 for five nights in Dubai…Tyne-Lexy says she refused the offer, but fears that [other less-prudish women might not, and thereby make more than her]…Rosie Williams, who starred in series three of [the same show]…says she was offered £100,000 a year [ie, roughly Maggie McNeill’s rate for a 19-week gig] plus all her clothes and bags, to become a companion to a man in Dubai…she says it is not spoken about in [ninny] circles… “We’re too ashamed”…

To Molest and Rape

Just another typical and representative cop predating on vulnerable women:

A Denver [cop raped]…a woman he first met when he responded to [a domestic violence] call last month…Johnny Leon-Alvarez…[then began to stalk] the victim…[who foolishly agreed to] go…on a date…with [him]…she “tried to say goodnight at the door” [but]…he [pushed his way] into the house…[where] the victim…”was trying to push him off of her”…she also stated “no” and “please stop”…[fortunately her]…roommate…was home…and…heard [the victim] say “no and please stop several times” [so the cop won’t be able to pull the usual cop trick of pretending it was consensual]…

Soap Opera (#735)

The “barcode tattoo” trope isn’t as popular as it was a few years ago, but it’s still often mentioned in cop wanking fantasies about tattoos in general:

[Gullible local news reporters are still parroting ludicrous cop masturbatory fantasies like “]Human trafficking victims are being branded and sold for sex in the Tampa Bay area[” even though the really imaginative prohibitionists have moved on to fantasies about microchips].  “It’s like branding cattle,” [bloviated pig fabulist] Alan Wilkett…[who masturbates while fantasizing about women with cheap tattoos he sees in public]…In some trafficking cases, the tattoo could be a barcode…“written in such a way…that if you scan that with your smart phone it’ll tell you she’s $25 or she’s $30″…[profiteer] Natasha Nascimento…[claimed] she’s seen children branded..”The youngest…I’ve seen…around 11-years-old…had dollar signs…tattooed onto both of her eyelids”…

In reality (as opposed to the weird world of cop masturbatory fantasies), barcodes are so finicky they won’t even work properly if scanned and reprinted.  But this ignoramus thinks a tattoo artist could apply one precisely enough to be read accurately from human skin.  And why the hell would anyone go to all that trouble?  These ugly fantasies of passive, vegetable-like women say a lot more about the prohibitionist who invents them than about any sex workers.

Sex Workers Against Trafficking (#822)

How GAATW became the only “anti-trafficking” organization actually concerned with fighting exploitation:

The Global Alliance Against Traffic in Women (GAATW) was founded in 1994 by a group of feminists and women’s rights advocates from, mostly, the Global South…[who] had witnessed the struggles of their compatriots with much less privilege than their own…and…heard the stories of working-class migrant women who had undertaken journeys in search of better livelihoods…Their stories…testified to the women’s courage, enterprise, and determination and challenged the stereotype of “the victim of trafficking”…In the beginning, some were uncomfortable with the idea that “sex work is work”.  However, their repeated interactions with individual sex workers and fledgling collectives forced them to question their middle-class mores…

Pyrrhic Victory (#846)

This dangerous mass surveillance tool won’t long be restricted to persecuting sex workers:

Beaumont, Texas [prosecutors have]…a new software that’s allows them to track ad’s [sic] [by] exploiting [the] human trafficking [hysteria to justify violating civil liberties].  The software is called Traffic Jam…[prosecutor] Kim Duchamp [bragged]…”We can use all kinds of different search parameters for phone number, email, key word searches, location certain date ranges, and…facial recognition”…Duchamp [also shared her sexual fantasies about]…Interstate 10 [and demonized]…”workers here from out of town”…

Pyrrhic Victory (#917)

Many more people die from scalpels than from meat cleavers:

The EU’s proposal for a temporary ban on facial-recognition technology won backing from Alphabet Chief Executive Sundar Pichai…but got a cool response from Microsoft President Brad Smith…Pichai [admit]ted…that the technology [will] be used for nefarious purposes…but…Smith…[vomited out “the] children[! and called giving pigs and spooks the power to keep all people in a perpetual electronic pig lineup]…“a reasonable alternative that will enable us to…address this problem with a scalpel instead of a meat cleaver”…Smith said it was important to first [wait until governments have established a total surveillance state before trying to] craft rules to [take it away from them]…

Morality Lessons (#953)

Just another typical and representative government thug:

A [typical and representative cop] was convicted on multiple counts for being a distributor and possessing over 4,000 images of…child pornography.  Matthew Laver…was sentenced to [only] 12 years in prison…Even though Laver had quit the police force in [Pennsylvania] three years before being arrested…his [stash of] kiddie porn dated back to his time in the Army and throughout his [career] as a [government thug, during which]…Laver spent 10 years online disseminating…porn which depicted…rape of children as young as infants…the problem of government agents viewing…child pornography on official Department of Defense computers has gotten so out of hand that [politicians can’t even cover it up any more]…an investigation called “Project Flicker”…identified over 5,000 individuals…with DOD…essentially running a child porn network on a government system…

Pyrrhic Victory (#992)

Still think those toothless facial recognition bans will rebottle the djinni?

…Clearview AI, devised a groundbreaking facial recognition app.  You take a picture of a person, upload it and get to see public photos of that person, along with links to where those photos appeared.  The system — whose backbone is a database of more than three billion images that Clearview claims to have scraped from Facebook, YouTube, Venmo and millions of other websites — goes far beyond anything ever constructed by the United States government or Silicon Valley giants…more than 600 [cop shops] have started using Clearview in the past year…[and] the computer code underlying its app…includes programming language to pair it with augmented-reality glasses; users would potentially be able to identify every person they saw…revealing not just their names but where they lived, what they did and whom they knew…“The weaponization possibilities of this are endless,” said Eric Goldman…of the High Tech Law Institute at Santa Clara University.  “Imagine a [typical and representative cop] who wants to stalk potential r[ape]…or… blackmail [victims] or [marginalized people to] throw…in jail”…

Torture Chamber (#999)

This will never change as long as screws have absolute power over their victims:

[A typical and representative screw at] Oregon’s only women’s prison…[named] Richard S. Alberts II…faces trial in February on federal drug trafficking charges…[but] Alberts [has a long history of raping and otherwise abusing women while his bosses punish his victims]…Sex abuse and misconduct cases, including about 10 active lawsuits against the state, have plagued the…prison since it opened in 2001 and through seven superintendent changes…convictions have ranged from rape and sexual assault to drug smuggling and [more rape]…prison officials…block…[caged women] from contacting attorneys unless they had existing cases.  After sending the [head screw bureaucrats] a letter threatening to involve the attorney general and governor, lawyer Michelle Burrows was able to contact her clients.  She described the prison as a “cesspool” where victims are punished and abusers are enabled…[rape victims are locked in dark holes] with no windows or clocks for 170 days, and denied meals and showers for days at a time…[they are also] threatened [with being] move[d] to an out-of-state prison away from…family and children if she d[o] not [deny the abuse]…

Disaster (#1000)

In a recent study of sex workers completed by the grassroots sex worker advocacy organization Hacking//Hustling…40% of participants reported experiencing increased violence after FOSTA became law

Have you ever wondered what the numbers in the diary title refer to?  Unless you’re terribly unobservant you’ve probably realized that each week’s number is the same as the Links column which follows it; that’s because they both refer to the week rather than the number of entries in that category (which for both is somewhat below 500).  In other words, this is the five hundredth week of this blog.  Every day for the last 500 weeks I’ve published a new column, and even though many are now news columns, link collections, or adaptations of Twitter threads, that’s still an awful lot of essays (over 3500 now, altogether).  I’ve never been paid for any of it, nor have I paywalled or intrusively-monetized the site, and I don’t intend to; however, I think it’s time I got at least some compensation for an awful lot of time, effort and brainpower.  That’s why I’ve started gathering my best work into collections; The Essential Maggie McNeill, Volume I came out last week, and you can buy it on Amazon; if you prefer a signed copy, I just got a box in yesterday and I’ll be adding it to my store today.  I’d appreciate it if those of you who appreciate my writing would both buy it and review it, because that’s how things get marketed on Amazon.  And now that I’ve figured out how to turn preparing these collections into a routine, I should (with any luck) be able to turn them out on a regular basis.  I’m already almost halfway through with the primary edit for Volume II, and Shannon Reeves & I have already planned the next cover; I don’t foresee any difficulty in getting it out in April as planned.  Then I’ll start compiling my next project, Ask Maggie, a two-volume collection of my advice columns, followed by a compilation of all my harlotographies and, if there’s sufficient demand, a third volume of The Essential Maggie McNeill, collecting my best essays from 2016-2019.  With any luck I can start making an appreciable income on books every month; if even one breaks out into general notice, the rest will follow.  And the more income I can be sure of every month, the more energy I can put into writing and speaking.

Though I’ve always loved old-style science fantasy, I have an especial love for “lost race” and “lost city” stories, in which a modern (i.e., 19th or early 20th century) hero stumbles upon some ancient (and often previously-unknown) race of people hidden away in some remote part of the globe, cut off from contact with the modern world by some kind of natural barrier such as a treacherous mountain range, an impassable desert, a dangerous jungle, etc.  The works of Edgar Rice Burroughs are full of tales of such hidden places, and A. Merritt’s entire oeuvre consisted of them; Wakanda from the Black Panther movie is a famous example, but as one might expect they’re not common any more for the simple reason that global satellite mapping has made the concept of such a hidden land unbelievable.  Recently, I received as a gift the mid-19th century novel A Strange Manuscript Found in a Copper Cylinder, which describes a lost civilization in the Antarctic; Amazon then helpfully informed me that Richard Shaver’s weird tales, out of print since the ’40s, are now available again in paperback.  Of course I had to put them on my wishlist, and a kind gentleman has already sent me the first volume.  But since most of you probabably have absolutely no idea what the hell I’m talking about, I’ll give you a quick synopsis.

Richard Shaver was an unemployed (and probably schizophrenic) Pennsylvania welder who believed that the Earth had once been ruled by a powerful humanoid race who discovered that they were being poisoned by solar radiation, and so moved their entire civilization underground.  They later decided to abandon the Earth entirely, fleeing to an apparently-healthier star in a huge fleet of spaceships and leaving the weak and inferior behind to give rise to modern man.  But their former slaves remained in the cities, degenerating into beings Shaver called “Deros” (short for “detrimental robots”) who were wholly evil and perverse and delighted in using the machines left by the ancients to inflict all sorts of harm on the descendants of their former masters.  They had various rays that could drive people insane (causing mass shootings and the like) or cause earthquakes and other natural disasters, and they used these for their sick idea of fun.  But their most terrifying behavior was to occasionally venture to the near-surface (subway tunnels, basements, etc) to abduct hapless surface-dwellers (especially women, of course), whom they would then use as sex slaves in sadomasochistic orgies in their underground cities.  Shaver wrote a plethora of stories based on this mythos, and from 1945 to 1948 he was the most popular writer in the pulp magazine Amazing Stories, whose editor Raymond Palmer (a bit of a latter-day Barnum in his way) promoted the tales, which Shaver insisted were true, as “The Shaver Mystery”.  Readers who preferred harder sci-fi (among them the young Harlan Ellison) criticized it instead as “The Shaver Hoax”, and eventually interest declined enough for Palmer to drop the series.  But while Palmer was a showman out for a buck, poor Shaver really believed in his fantasies and continued to (intermittently) self-publish a magazine called The Hidden World for most of the ’50s.  From the early ’60s until his death in 1975, he then devoted himself to photographing and painting what he called “rock books”, mineral formations he believed were something like primordial solid-state memory crystals in which the ancients had stored images and data with something like a laser (ironically, interest in his images of these “books” has increased since the early ’90s, and there have been a number of exhibitions of his work in this century).

I’m not just telling you all this as an amusement; as usual, there’s a connection to my larger body of work.  Whenever some kind of crackpot idea gets into the popular culture as Shaver’s did, there will always be people who embrace it to a near-cultic degree; compare the recent popularity of Zecharia Sitchin’s ideas about the alien Anunnaki from the planet Nibiru.  Shaver was no exception, and though his mass popularity faded in just a few years, “Shaver Mystery Clubs” continued throughout the ’50s and into the ’60s (and some may still exist, as far as I know).  But consider the basic elements of the Shaver mythos:  evil, malign sexual perverts with mysterious powers lurking around the world, abducting women in large numbers to use as sex slaves in hidden underground lairs.  Sound familiar?  How about if I tell you that Shaver claimed that he had been a prisoner of the Deros from 1934 to 1942, and that during the height of the “Mystery”, Amazing Stories printed a letter from a woman who claimed she had been captured by the evil creatures in a sub-basement in Paris and kept as a sex slave for several months until she escaped?  As I explained in “Imagination Pinned Down” and “Mind-witness Testimony“, some humans have always reported abduction (usually sexual, often with strong BDSM overtones) by and captivity among beings such as nymphs, fairies, goblins, witches, Deros, aliens, Satanists and “sex traffickers” with mind-control powers.  And while they serve as a good basis for fascinating tales and entertaining fantasies, they’re a terrible and dangerous foundation for public policies.

You don’t forfeit your constitutional rights when you try to board an airplane.  –  Dan Alban

Feminine Pragmatism

Wherever there are men making money, there will be women working to get some of it, despite the efforts of “saviors” to stop them:

When Peru’s military launched a major crackdown on illegal gold mining…last February, [cops arrested] dozens of women and girls, [proclaiming their interruption of the women’s]…flow of [cash was a “rescue”]…But…a year later…the…mines [have simply moved] deeper into the jungle – and the brothels and bars have followed [despite prohibitionist hand-wringing]…Regional governor Luis Hidalgo [parrots]…“human trafficking” [rhetoric, pretending]…Women…are [too stupid to understand]…sex [work]…and [fantasizing they would prefer shitty, low-paid work]…as cleaners…in restaurants and bars [to the lucative sex work they actually migrate for]…

To Molest and Rape

Now that some rapist cops are being prosecuted, they’re taking measures to silence their victims:

Days [after Jorden] Simms…[was] violently raped [by an Arizona cop]…with the last name French [after he arrested] her [on a bogus drug charge.  Then at the jail, she was raped by]…a [sow] with an unknown object [under the pretext of a “search”]…Simms reported [both rapes]…and both were supposedly investigated by…forensics nurses…after the…examination and rape kit, police claim a medical professional told them to go to another hospital because they lacked a piece of equipment…[but on the way] a [pig and a screw threw her out of a moving pigmobile, leaving her brain dead.  Pigs claim she magically escaped her handcuffs]…open[ed] a door which was supposedly unable to be opened by the back seat occupants [and leapt to her death]…the results of the rape kit have yet to be made public despite the exam taking place three weeks ago…

Choke Point (#847)

PayPal is now actively seeking to rat sex workers out to the pigs:

PayPal Holdings Inc will [conspire] with a leading U.S. anti-[sex] group in an effort to identify…money transactions [related to sex work]…Banks and other financial institutions are under [fascist] pressure to stop [sex workers] from [having access to banking services] and…anti-[sex worker] group…Polaris…will be creating a financial [surveillance] unit, with donated support and experts from [Paypal]…The scheme will identify “those who profit off of [consensual sex]…and [rat them out to the pigs],” [bragged] Sara Crowe…of Polaris…[fascist] groups have pushed for greater collaboration between governments, companies and non-profits to tighten the noose on [adults who have consensual sex]…

Panopticon (#897)

Old-fashioned Stasi-type surveillance isn’t dead yet:

A surveillance vendor that works with U.S. government agencies, such as the FBI, DEA, and ICE, is marketing spying capabilities to local police departments, including cameras that are hidden inside a tombstone, a baby car seat, and a vacuum cleaner…the offerings from Special Services Group…[affiliated with] Vigilant……[also] offer[s]…surreptitious recording devices…like an alarm clock/radio that can be inserted into [victims’] hotel rooms and faux utility boxes that can be placed in non-conspicuous areas (provided no one notices the absence of conduit running to/from the mock box)…in addition to a variety of super-small cameras that can be mounted damn near anywhere…

You Were Warned

We told you so, over and over and over again:

…former Vice President Joe Biden called for [the law that makes the open internet possible], Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, to be “revoked, immediately”…Biden said…“It should be revoked because [I and other politicians want total control of all public media]”…This wasn’t the first time [the career authoritarian] criticized the immensely important internet law. In previous interviews with outlets like CNN, Biden has said that “we should be considering taking away [freedom of speech on the internet],” but has never ventured as far as saying that it should be completely “revoked”…

Pyrrhic Victory (#956)

Not concerned yet?  You should be:

The U.S. military is…develop[ing] facial recognition technology that reads the pattern of heat being emitted by faces in order to…work in the dark and across long distances…“Sensors should be demonstrable in environments such as targets seen through automotive windshield glass, targets that are backlit, and targets that are obscured due to light weather (e.g., fog),” the Department of Defense indicated…The device should be able to operate from a distance of 10 to 500 meters…

Opting Out (#982)

Fascist profiteers sue to force censorship on everyone so they can profit from it:

Four age verification companies [filed suit]…challenging the Culture Secretary’s decision to shelve the scheme to impose age checks on all porn sites viewed in the UK…the companies are…also claiming damages…in the region of £3 million, for losses sustained developing age verification technology…[with which they intended to profit from the censorship] scheme…implementation was repeatedly delayed throughout 2019…The Government has said it aims to publish draft legislation this year, but it could take two to three years before the regulator is up and running…

A Broker in Pillage (#993)

Burying government in lawsuits is the only way to slow its depredations:

A retired railroad worker from [Pennsylvania] and his daughter in Massachusetts have sued two federal agencies and an agent in federal court…[because] they…[stole] his life savings of $82,373 at Pittsburgh International Airport this summer and won’t give it back.  Terry Rolin…and Rebecca Brown…[filed] suit against the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Transportation Security Administration…with the [help of the] Institute for Justice…[which is] seeking class-action status for others whose money has been [stolen in the same way]…Institute of Justice lawyers [have prevailed in]…similar [cases] in Houston and Cleveland…In August, Mr. Rolin entrusted Ms. Brown with…his and his parents’ [life] savings, so she could deposit it into a new joint bank account for him in Massachusetts.  Mr. Rolin said his parents lived through the Depression and kept their money hidden at home instead of in banks and he did the same.  But when he moved out of the family home and into an apartment he…became uncomfortable with having so much cash on hand, so he decided to put it into an account [only to have armed state thugs steal it at gunpoint]…

Watershed (#994)

The fashion & beauty industries owe their very existence to whores, and are finally admitting it:

Heaux Cosmetics is a new line of “sex-proof” makeup…designed specifically for sex workers.  “A lot of makeups claim they’re long-wearing, and you might be able to get through a cocktail with them, but not a blow job or a hot shower,” [said] the 29-year-old creator Lydia Dupra…The collection of roughly 25 products includes lipstick, eyeliner and eye shadow with cheeky names such as “In the Will,” “Offshore Account” and “Dubai,” and they’re made to be smear-resistant…Dupra says…“I told the laboratory, ‘No, I literally don’t want it to come off.”  (She suggests an oil-based makeup remover and “being patient” if you do indeed want to wash it off)…Dupra has already received nearly a thousand online orders, and she hopes to open a Los Angeles store in the next year. But her real ambition is…“I want there to be more businesses run by sex workers for sex workers so we keep the money in the community”…

To Molest and Rape (#1002)

Another specimen of the garbage the state pays to violate teenagers:

A [typical and representative school cop] in Michigan’s southwestern Upper Peninsula has been charged in the sexual assault of a 16-year-old boy…Brian Helfert [raped]…the boy…[on] Nov. 10…at Helfert’s home…[beside] work[ing] as a school [gestapo, he also had access to vulnerable teens as]…a…juvenile crime investigator…

At the end of February, I’ll be heading down to Florida to participate in an event for SWOP Behind Bars, on the 27th to 29th.  Originally, there was also supposed to be a companion event in Orlando on the 13th-15th, but that was cancelled; however, I still plan to travel there a week or so in advance to visit friends in New Orleans and see a few clients.  My schedule isn’t certain yet, but if you’re in or near Orlando, Tampa or New Orleans (or you want to book a long enough session to justify my traveling to you from one of those places), please contact me as soon as possible; once I start arranging my schedule I’m not going to be able to rearrange it at will, so the sooner you let me know the better!  Given the cancellation of the first event and the fact that Mardi Gras falls on February 25th (which means packed flights & hotels), I may even start in Florida and then go to New Orleans for the first week of March.  But one way or another, I plan to lock in my schedule by no later than the 17th or so; if you want to see me in the South, you’ll need to speak up before then!

Lately, I’ve received several requests from escorts, especially mature ones, asking how they can move toward the business model I’ve built, namely eschewing formal advertising altogether and just relying on guys who contact me because of my blogging, Twitter, articles, books, video interviews, podcast appearances, etc.  And I’m always hesitant to even try to answer such questions because, though I often play at being terribly conceited and full of myself, it’s always done with enough of a smile and a wink that most people know it’s a tease (at least, I hope they know).  In reality, it took a very long time for me to accept that I was even attractive, much less a bona fide sex symbol, and I’m still not really comfortable with discussing that status as a factual thing; as a result, I find it difficult to answer the question “How can I market myself as you do?” by stating the true and factual answer: “Be Maggie McNeill”.  No, I’m not being facetious; that really is the truth.  By the time I started escorting full-time at the age of 33, my personality was already pretty firmly established in all of its unconventional, intense, neuroatypical, compulsive, fiery glory, and trying to hide or disguise that personality would’ve been almost as difficult as trying to get a new head.  From the time I was a stripper I’ve never made any effort to “round my shoulders” as my old friend Dr. Helena put it, in other words to soften my edges and cool my fire so as to be less threatening to men.  Some men love my strength and fury, but a larger number are intimidated by them; that’s just something I’ve had to accept as the price of being who I am.  As I’ve explained before, aside from the occasional nude selfie or the like, I’ve never really done anything solely for marketing purposes; astute readers may have noticed that my ads on various escort ad sites are always plagiarized from one another, because I find it much too difficult to find new ways to praise myself.  I didn’t start this blog to market myself as an escort; remember, for the first five years I pretended to be retired!  No, I started it to educate people about sex work and speak about what I believe in, and I started Twitter to promote the blog.  Then the interviews, speaking gigs, books, etc, all followed as natural consequences of that, and eventually I realized there was no point in hiding my identity from potential customers when it was pretty clear that, in our current surveillance state, the “authorities” already knew who I was anyhow.  In other words, I didn’t go looking for fame; it just sort of happened to me, and business (plus the likely attention of evildoers) followed close behind.  Simply put, I can’t possibly tell you or anybody how to get to where I’ve found myself because it wasn’t the result of any kind of brilliant and well-considered plan; it just kinda happened as a result of the choices I made, and those in turn were just outgrowths of who I am.  I realize “Be Maggie McNeill” is useless as career advice to anyone who isn’t already Maggie McNeill, but I’m afraid it’s all I’ve got.

License to Rape

Police states define the bodies of all citizens as “crime scenes” which can be violated by “authorities” at will:

…Mbalaminwe Mwimanzi was watching sports at a friend’s apartment on the evening of January 15, 2019…[when pigs] stormed the apartment with a warrant allowing them to search [the location but not the people] for drugs…[cops] searched Mwimanzi three separate times [anyhow]…[when the first two pigs] found no[thing]…Joshua Wilson, who is being sued by Mwimanzi and the ACLU-DC…[forced] Mwimanzi, who was still handcuffed, to spread his legs…[so he could grope] Mwimanzi’s backside and…[violate his] anus…the[n]…he…fondled [Mwimanzi’s testicles]…Mwimanzi told [the other cops] that Wilson had sexually assaulted him….[and] asked to be taken to a hospital as he was experiencing pain…ACLU-DC has already filed three previous lawsuits over similar [sexual assaults]…

Paint By Numbers

Silly “awareness raising” stunts by crowds of idiots are mostly a thing of the past; now they’re usually marketing gimmicks:

The Greater Dallas Restaurant Association’s 24Hour Dallas initiative introduced an anti-human trafficking program…[which purports to] give…businesses a way to help trafficked persons…“realize they are not free [because they’re very stupid and restaurateurs who have never done sex work know more about their lives than they do] and give them steps to take to escape their captors”…[magic] signs will be placed in public restrooms…on the sex…trafficking superhighway

This is the first time I’ve seen the ludicrous “sex trafficking superhighway” term for I-20 outside of Alabama.

Choke Point (#665)

Fascism in action:

Following the US government’s assassination of top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani, PayPal has delayed and blocked numerous small donations to The Grayzone that mentioned this website’s news coverage of Iran.  At the same time…Facebook has censored a The Grayzone video reporting on the US government’s escalation against Iran and its ally Hezbollah.  In 2010, PayPal froze donations to WikiLeaks…Now independent journalism websites…are suffering from blockages imposed by PayPal that appear directly linked to Washington’s aggressive actions in the Middle East…

A Moral Cancer (#972)

Anti-vaping lunacy is quickly reaching “sex trafficking” levels of disinformation:

This is not simply wrong, it’s unbelievably wrong…For starters, the death rate of jumping out of airplanes without parachutes is 100 percent (the odd Vesna Vulović story notwithstanding).  For vaping, not so much…even New Jersey’s official site for anti-vaping propaganda admits that there is only a single confirmed case of a Garden State vaper—out of what must be hundreds of thousands if not millions of users—dying from illness related to electronic cigarettes…also…neither of the vaping devices pictured…are the sort that use the black-market THC cartridges that have been most plausibly linked to most serious illnesses, let alone deaths.  But when you’re dealing with propaganda, it’s best not to get too lost in the weeds (perhaps especially when the propaganda is somehow related to weed)…

See also “Unsafe for Human Consumption” for more unbelievably-exaggerated lies about drugs.

Rotting Fruit (#973)

An account of Epstein’s crimes that doesn’t devolve into torture porn:

A lawsuit filed…by the…U.S. Virgin Islands alleges that…Jeffrey Epstein sexually trafficked hundreds of young women and girls on his private island as recently as 2018 by using a web of shell companies to carry out and conceal his crimes…The allegations…shed new light on the tactics Epstein used to hide his illicit activities.  Epstein…brought girls as young as 11 to his private island, known as Little St. James, and maintained a database to track their availability and movements…Most of the companies were created in 2011 and 2012, soon after Epstein registered as a sex offender in the Virgin Islands following his 2008 guilty plea…[in return for] a…non-prosecution agreement from then-U.S. Attorney Alexander Acosta…[which] shelved a federal sex trafficking indictment that could have put Epstein away for life…The lawsuit…is the first…to allege that Epstein continued to commit crimes after 2005…

Little Boxes (#975)

SCOTUS leaves the conflict between the 7th and 10th Circuits unresolved:

The U.S. Supreme Court…will not consider an appeal by three women who were arrested for exposing their breasts at a New Hampshire beach more than three years ago.  The women — who are now part of a global campaign called Free the Nipple — were arrested in 2016…Heidi Lilley, Kia Sinclair and Ginger Pierro argued in their appeal that the local ordinance that resulted in their arrests and convictions violates their 14th Amendment rights because it applies to women but not men.  The New Hampshire Supreme Court upheld their convictions…ruling that…laws that…criminalize…women but not men [for the same actions somehow don’t discriminate on the basis of gender, because tits]…

Shift in the Wind (#983)

A pro-decrim article by a former sex worker in a conservative-leaning newspaper:

…Time and money spent hunting grown-ups for doing consensual adult things with each other could be used to test rape kits, investigate reports of sexual violence and provide emergency support to victims.  But politicians…throughout the country are trying to increase raids on massage parlors, increase surveillance at hotels and make men like Robert Kraft register as a sex offenders…cracking down on consensual adults in the sex industry won’t make any of us safer…prohibition…creates black markets where career criminals thrive…

I Spy (#1000)

Anyone who doubts that politicians are deranged megalomaniacs should be following this:

Attorney General William P. Barr declared…that a [single] shooting [incident outweighs the privacy interests of every single Apple customer because]…terrorism, and he asked Apple…to [break encryption it developed to be unbreakable so the government can snoop in]…two phones used by the gunman…Barr…call[ed] on Apple and other technology companies to find a solution [to the laws of mathematics.  Spooks pretend]…they need access to [Mohammed Saeed] Alshamrani’s phones to see messages from encrypted apps like Signal or WhatsApp [because he is Muslim]…

With Friends Like These… (#1003)

So helping!  Many respectful!

…Louis Theroux[‘s] documentary, Selling Sex, [exploited three sex workers named] Caroline, Victoria and Ashleigh…Ashleigh and [her best friend] Georgina…published an open letter to the show’s creators and the BBC, describing their disappointment and mistreatment…[by] Theroux and his collaborators…[who] set out to tell a certain narrative on sex work[ers as]…victim[s]…Theroux[‘s]…faux-naive narration…constantly referred to unspecified people finding sex work unsavoury and “unhealthy”..[though] no evidence of this was presented in the programme…Theroux…ask[ed] every woman he interviewed about the…“damage” [he assumed caused them to begin sex work]…There was…no mention of the closure of Backpage…which forced thousands of sex workers further into the fringes…Selling Sex felt lazy and uncontentious, challenging its subjects rather than its viewers…
