I’m going to fuck you up. – unidentified terrorist
I’m not really fond of westerns, but I am fond of Henry Mancini; I discovered this one on a 1970s tape marketing a quadrophonic sound system, and it popped into my head again recently. The links above it were provided by Franklin Harris, Jesse Walker, Scott Greenfield, Walter Olson, and Cop Crisis (x3), in that order.

Sounds like imitation Morricone. (Now you’ll tell me this was before Morricone.)
Mancini didn’t need to imitate anybody.
Mancini’s 1953 uncredited film score for It Came from Outer Space, with Herman Stein and Irving Gertz, featured a theremin.
His 1954 score for Creature from the Black Lagoon was thematically similar, but without the theremin.
He was brilliant and versatile, from horror film music to Moon River and Days of Wine and Roses.
I’d say The Pink Panther alone is enough to qualify Mancini as brilliant.
Which makes this surprising.
