Police departments all over have discovered that criminal accusations are a valuable way to enrich themselves at the expense of the public.  –  “They Just Don’t Get It

[Some “feminists”] seem…to imagine that if it weren’t for…bogeymen like “the Media” and “Patriarchy” subjecting girls to “sexualization”…we would all grow up in a blissful, chaste state and never, ever, ever be interested in dirty, nasty sex…and that this would be a good thing.  –  “China Dolls

The big thing is just how dangerous this is.  –  Jeremiah Fowler

While looking for a video to feature in this column, I discovered that Blondie drummer Clem Burke had passed on; since his work is prominent in what is probably my favorite Blondie song, here it is.  The links above the video were provided by Franklin Harris, Popehat, IncarcerNation (x2), Mike Masnick, Lenore Skenazy, and Franklin Harris again, in that order.

Now I have to worry about being harassed just for needing to pee?
–  Kalaya Morton

Surplus Women (#1080)

Never call the cops for any reason whatsoever:

A Los Angeles sex worker called 911 to report being held in a motel room against her will.  When the [cops]…showed up, one of the[m] shot her.  The woman, Linda Becerra Moran, died on February 27 after nearly three weeks on life support…Moran [had] called 911 on February 7 and…spoke a mix of Spanish and English…[she] was crying…and…clearly very upset…[when the cops arrived] it [was] clear that she [was having some kind of mental health episode but the cops ganged up on her in an intimidating manner and]…back[ed her] into [a] corner…The supervisor instruct[ed]…one [of them] to “be lethal” and…he…immediately fire[d] at her…the cops then…cuff[ed] her…before administering any medical care…

To Molest and Rape (#1298)

“Sex addiction” will continue to be used as an excuse for violent crimes until ignorant judges stop allowing it to be:

A [typical and representative] London [Ontario cop] with a…[pretend]ed sex addiction [received a slap on the wrist]…for sexually assaulting a woman he met online.  [Cop Stephen Williams also recently changed his name to Will Stephens as part of his effort to avoid consequences for deceiving and attacking at least three women, but despite that a judge let him skate with a mere] 90 days under house arrest, followed by 90 days under a curfew…and…prohibit[ion] from…accessing online dating websites [during that time.  But]…Stephens [alias Williams still plans to]…appeal…that [love tap]…Stephens…quit his [cop] job…to a[void a] suspension…following [yet another sexual assault]…

The Last Shall Be First (#1361)

What kind of warped mind thinks it’s OK for male cops to barge into a women’s bathroom?

…two male [cops barged into] a Tucson Walmart women’s restroom…[to harass] Kalaya Morton…a…masculine-presenting [lesbian, because]…a [busybody] store employee…assumed she was…transgender…Morton…said that…the…[thugs] stormed in, shining flashlights into the stall and demanding she exit.  Morton, still using the toilet, was stunned…When she finally exited the stall, she said she lifted her shirt to prove she was not a man, expecting the ordeal to end.  Instead…one [of the pigs kept oinking that]…she “looked like a man”…The Pima County Sheriff’s Department c[laim]ed that the incident is under internal affairs investigation…[but only because Morton recorded the cops and posted the video to] social media…

To Molest and Rape (#1455)

I just can’t feel sorry for cops sexually abused by other cops:

A Philadelphia [cop] who was named police chief [of] Hartford, Conn…[backed out] after it was revealed he was under investigation for sexual harassment…[and] has been sued by [one of his victims]…Tyrell McCoy…creat[ed] a “hostile environment” of pervasive sexual harassment in the workplace, including unwanted groping and kissing and [demands] for oral sex…[from cop] Mark Casey…[who reported that] McCoy had pursued him for years…and then retaliated against him when he refused [to put out]…McCoy t[old] Casey…he was “untouchable” because of his close…relationship with the then-head of…Internal Affairs…Casey and another [cop victim] filed complaints last year…and…McCoy [had hoped to escape consequences by taking the job in] Hartford…

The Puritan Recrudescence (#1473)

Politicians like to pretend that their entry in any “monkey see, monkey do” parade is different:

A new bill…in…North Carolina…aims to ban [people] under 14 from social media…like…Australia’s [float in this “monkey see, monkey do parade]…this bill would prohibit anyone under 14 from creating an account on social platforms that meet certain [arbitrary] criteria…like having 10 percent daily active users under 16 and…scrolling…[people] aged 14 to 15 would need parents’ permission to make an account…[and demands] age verification [for any] site [any politician has pointed at while belching]…”harmful to minors”…Unlike…North Carolina’s [existing] age-verification law…this one requires these site visitors to be 16 years or older, not 18…Findings from a recent study on age verification laws [demonstrate] that these laws don’t work…

The Puritan Recrudescence (#1508)

Oh, what a surprise:

A new working paper from various university researchers suggests that age-verification laws aren’t effective…Since 2022, 19 states have passed age-verification laws…[despite warning from] free speech and digital privacy experts…that age-verification laws won’t work [as politicians pretend]…Through analyzing Google Trends data, researchers found a 46.6 percent traffic reduction of searches to Pornhub, the biggest platform compliant with the laws.  Pornhub has blocked most states with age-verification laws because of the burden of complying…researchers saw a 48.1 percent increase in searches for a large non-compliant platform, XVideos…and a 23.6 percent increase in searches for VPNs.  This occurred in the states with age-verification laws on a rolling timeline based on when the laws were enacted…

Do As I Say, Not As I Do (#1509)

Laws are for the peasantry, not the rulers:

A [Utah] judge has been arrested and accused of enticing minors through sexual conversations on a chat app.  Kevin Robert Christensen…was booked into jail…for…[talking to] FBI [agents fantasy role-playing] on…KIK…as [a] 13[-year-old] and…a…16[-year-old]…Christensen allegedly made “multiple references” to sexually abusing [actual minors]…

They tested “self-trafficking” charges on sex workers first.
–  Mistress Matisse

Thought Control (#1343)

I was destined to be threatened with state violence regardless of career path:

Georgia…[politicians are ap]ing…bill[s from other states] aimed at [criminaliz]ing…librari[an]s, but [sane people] say it would chill free speech and open the state up to lawsuits.  Senate Bill 74…would [criminalize] an[y]…librarians…including at school libraries, who [help any]…minor…[find any book that any politician has pointed at while belching the word “]harmful[” even if the targeted]…book…[has been] in the library for…years…Christoper Bruce…[of] the American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia…[pointed out] that the bill is similar to [one recently] struck down in Arkansas

Pyrrhic Victory (#1465)

Undermining of civil liberties only starts with “undesirables”; it never stops there:

[Mad emperor Trump is demanding that] undocumented immigrants age 14 or older…register and provide fingerprints…DHS will [then] issue “evidence of registration,” which immigrants over 18 must carry and [produce every time a racist cop or spook demands it.  The scheme is a Trumpist attempt to]…criminal[ize]…undocumented…migra[tion, which is currently]…a civil violation and not a criminal one.  [Any such new] requirements…would require [actual] new laws, not [mere] executive orders or policy changes…

Feudalism Redux (#1497)

Montana politicians are trying to reduce all women to serfdom:

A new Montana bill “establishing the criminal offense of abortion trafficking” could criminalize pregnant women who cross state lines to get an abortion…Aiding or assisting someone else in such…would also make one guilty of abortion trafficking.  Criminalizing driving someone else out of Montana to do something that’s legal in another state is itself ridiculous. But the language of this bill would very clearly criminalize some pregnant women who transport themselves out of state too…Per a constitutional amendment voters passed in 2024, Montana allows abortion up until fetal viability and provides an exception to this limit if the mother’s life or health is at risk…But…there are…justifiable reasons for getting an abortion after about 24 weeks…and…It’s also possible that Montana…will someday topple the recent constitutional amendment and…ban abortion much earlier in pregnancy…this is unlikely to stop with Montana.  In fact, it’s possible that Montana is seen by some as the perfect test ground for this sort of thing precisely because it currently allows abortions until viability…

To Molest and Rape (ROTW #17)

When will the mainstream media admit that pigs in schools are a menace?

A [typical and representative Pennsylvania cop paid to lurk in schools and spy on, harass, and intimidate students] is facing [misdemeanor] charges for [raping] a 14-year-old girl nearly 100 times…Anthony DePanicis Jr….[raped the girl] almost weekly [from 1991 to 1994, when she]…turned 17…

Thought Control (#1509)

As an alumna of the LSU MLIS program, I am fully qualified to declare this absolutely bat-shit insane:

…at Livingston Parish libraries…the…shelves reserved for young adult books are temporarily empty…[because] the local library board…[demand]ed pulling 30,000 young adult print and audiobook materials from children’s sections and moving those [lunatics might conceivably] deem…sexually explicit to the adult side in each of the five library branches.  Young adult is a category of books geared toward youths 13 and older[, whom]…Louisiana law [now] defines…[as “children”, equivalent to kindergarteners]…Since 2022, [pro-censorship fanatics] and [politicians] have [demanded massive censorship as] the [book-banning fad has spread among Trumpists]…Jennifer Holden, an [especially-vile pro-censorship fanatic], said further actions need to be taken, like [officially eliminating the entire YA category to restrict teens to young children’s books]…

Pyrrhic Victory (#1514)

Cops don’t care how many false positives these systems shit out, and Detroit cops don’t even pretend to care:

Last year, Detroit police wrongly arrested LaDonna Crutchfield after facial recognition software incorrectly identified her as the culprit of a shooting…[they had no] warrant…[but] handcuffed, detained, and jailed her anyway…[sole]ly on [the] facial recognition [output, and]…released [her] only when it became obvious [even to halfwit cops] that they had arrested the wrong person…six hours after [they brutalized her and]…dis[rupted her life]…Detroit police [have a history of similar incompetence, having terrorized]…Porcha WoodruffRobert Williams…[and Michael Oliver in the same way]…

The Last Shall Be First (#1516)

Another moronic culture war “monkey see, monkey do” parade is underway:

Pennsylvania [politician] Robert Leadbeter…has announced that he soon plans to introduce a [bill aping one from Iowa] that would make it a felony…[to] allow…a minor to attend a drag show…Leadbeter [vomited buzzwords and culture-war shibboleths at reporters, including]…”corrupt the morals”…”decency”…”sexually charged”…[“]premature sexualization…family values and parental rights[“]…

There is no huge difference…in the lives of [prisoners]…based on whether a Democrat or Republican is in office.  –  Julie Abbate

First They Came for the Hookers… (#573)

Politicians believe they can excuse hypocrisy by the magic word “illicit”:

A [Mississippi] bill meant to eradicate the state’s individual income tax does not apply to sex workers…”all…income derived from producing, distributing, directing, manufacturing, issuing, publishing or advertising any depiction of sexually explicit conduct shall be at the rate of five percent (5%),” House Bill No. 1 reads…[bill sponsor Trey] Lamar did not explain why he included [the provision, except to vomit]…”illegal and illicit activity”…[at] reporters…The Clarion Ledger [has] contacted a labor attorney to discuss whether a state singling out one form of legal employment for taxation is legal…

Paint By Numbers (#1006)

Silly “awareness raising” stunts by crowds of idiots are a relic of the last decade; now they’re merely marketing gimmicks:

A car show and cruise featuring 120 vehicles… [w]as part of an annual fundraiser put on by In-N-Out Burger’s [Christian fundamentalist] owner[s]…The event, called Cruisin’ 2 Freedom, benefits Slave 2 Nothing, a [profiteer group] that [uses “]human trafficking[” as a hook to separate fools from their money]…Benjamin Nolot…of Exodus Cry [shared his sexual fantasies about underage girls]…

The Course of a Disease (#1209)

Ruhama, the current DBA of the gang of prohibitionist nuns who enslaved Irish women in the “Magdalene laundries” for centuries, not only pushed the horrific “Swedish model” despite knowing that it would increase violence against sex workers, but actually celebrated the increase in violence when it happened exactly as predicted.  Now they’re predictably trying to widen their repression by demanding both internet censorship and increased surveillance of Irish citizens, not to mention more police violence against vulnerable women, by vomiting out the same propaganda they’ve used for the past two decades but pretending it’s new and based in “research”.  I’m not even going to bother quoting this same nonsense, barfed up by long-time Ruhama fantasist Ruth Breslin, but the link is there if you feel inclined to wade in sewage.

No Escape (#1372)

Your “leaders” refer to this as “correction”:

On the first day of his second presidential term, Donald Trump severely restricted transgender prisoners’ access to safe housing and proper medical care…one order bars the federal government from funding gender-affirming care, mandates that trans women be housed in men’s prisons, and instructs the federal government to remove protections for transgender people from Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) guidelines…

Censorship Ascendant (#1494)

The First Amendment is now being eroded just like many of the others:

Bias reporting systems have been popping up in one form or another across more than a dozen state and city municipalities in the last four years, usually consisting of an online portal or telephone number where citizens are encouraged to submit reports…of speech and behavior that are not only not crimes, but also First Amendment-protected expression…In Oregon, citizens can report “offensive ‘jokes’” and “imitating someone’s cultural norm or practice”…In Philadelphia…authorities fielding “hate incidents” can now ask for exact [names and] addresses…about the alleged offending party…city officials will in some cases “contact those accused of bias and request that they attend sensitivity training”…to teach you the error of your ways…

The Puritan Recrudescence (#1503)

“Age verification” laws are bad for speech, but good for VPN business:

In recent years, the implementation of age verification laws for adult content websites has sparked a significant surge in VPN demand across…the United States…The data paints a clear picture of the soaring demand for VPN services in states such as Florida (1,150%), Oklahoma (1,060%), Utah (967%), and Alabama (542%), among others…The use of VPNs has become a popular workaround for individuals seeking unrestricted access to online content. Thus, despite the geo-blocking measures, Pornhub’s traffic reached an all-time high, surpassing 1.8 billion visits by late 2024…

To Molest and Rape (ROTW #17)

Cops should not be allowed anywhere near legal minors:

A Corpus Christi [Texas cop has been] arrested [for repeated statutory rape of] a 15-year-old…Daniel Verduzco’s [creepy behavior was not discovered until the girl’s]…family…moved to Tulsa in early 2024…[after a suicide attempt,] the girls’ [mother]…went through her [phone]…and found pictures of…a c[learly]…adult [cop and interrogated]…her daughter…[about him].  Tulsa police…contacted Homeland Security…in Corpus Christi…

We’re going to take every single John, charge them with sex trafficking, and put them in prison for five years?  –  Patrick Noonan

I’m Sure You Feel Safer Now

And doubly sure Mr. Rodriguez does:

Houston [cop] Ricardo Corral [has been found] not legally liable for crashing his p[igmobile] into an…[innocent bystander’s car because] he was in hot pursuit of someone apparently considered a dangerous villain: an adult man who sought to pay a consenting adult woman for sex…[The victim,] Ruben Rodriguez…sued, [because] both he and his passenger suffered injuries for which Corral should be held liable.  [But] the Texas Supreme Court has dismissed the case, saying Corral is protected by [the magic spell of] “official immunity”…Because of this, and because bad driving is part of police chases, he is not legally liable for the accident he caused [because an adult man was] offering to pay a…[sow cosplay]ing as an adult sex worker.  Police put in danger the lives of countless people in order to arrest someone for trying to have consensual but non-state-sanctioned sex…

If Men Were Angels

The main difference between cops and “church leaders” appears to be that the latter aren’t typically armed:

A church leader in…Florida has been arrested…[for] possession of child pornography after…Microsoft [reported it]…being uploaded…by a Bing Image Search user…Frank Gough II…was [raid]ed on Thursday, January 9…and [cops stole] multiple computer storage devices found…to hold more than 100 files of child porn…[some] of…[kids as young as] three..

To Molest and Rape

Just another rapist cop following his bliss:

A [typical and representative Pennsylvania vice cop named]…Jason Krasley…[has been] arrested…[for aggravated] rape and involuntary sexual servitude for crimes [he] committed…between 2011 and 2015…[his accomplice, fellow vice cop] Kevin Weaver…also was charged with the same crimes [but] was rewarded with a paid vacation]…in 2021 [Krasley] went to work for the SafeSport Center, which fired him in November shortly after learning he was charged in a separate case for…stealing $5,500 from a drug bust…The new arrest [demonstrates that]…a [“]robust vetting process[” is anything but that when the subject is a cop.  Safesport]…was established in 2017 to deal with sex-abuse cases in Olympic sports [at all]…level[s, but…since its “]investigation team[” is recruited from cop shops, they predictably cover for each other]…Krasley [also] faces [charges for]…kidnapping…[anal rape] and intimidation of a witness…

See No Evil (#668)

The sick American mind at work again, seeing sex where it isn’t:

Four pieces of art were removed from the walls of the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth…after [politicians beshat themselves while vomiting the words “]child pornography[” in chorus with]…The Dallas [Yellow P]ress…the [non-sexual photos] are part of an exhibition called “Diaries of Home”…by Virginia-born photographer Sally Mann…[only] a handful [of the 21 photos] featured her naked children…[they were taken] more than 30 years [ago and have been exhibited]…across the country and around the world…the [current brouhaha was intentionally stirred up by The Yellow P]ress, which is owned by billionaire Monty Bennett, a…Republican mega donor.  The…website…[also] published [disgusting] comments…[from] Tarrant County Judge Tim O’Hare[, who apparently found the images sexy]…

End Demand (#1165)

Massachusetts Puritans are still trying to destroy men’s lives for daring to want consensual sex with adult women:

case that came before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court last week involves a[n entrapment scheme] conducted by Massachusetts state cops in 2021.  The [cops, fantasy role-play]ing as adult sex workers, posted [fraudulent] ads online and arrested people who responded…the[n]…indicted th[em]…on sex trafficking charges…punishable by at least 5 years in prison (without eligibility for probation, parole, or work release) and a possible 20 years, plus a potential fine of up to $25,000.  The five defendants in [Commonwealth v.] Garafalo…pushed back against the charges, filing a motion to dismiss them in 2022.  State Judge Maynard Kirpalani agreed…[saying,] “the woman in the advertisements was a fictitious individual created by law enforcement, and there was…evidence that any of the Defendants knowingly enabled or caused…another person to engage in commercial sexual activity.”  The state appealed [and lost]…so [it] appealed again…

A Broker in Pillage (#1170)

It’s high time courts stopped letting cops get away with literal armed robbery:

…a [Nevada] judge has ruled that [cops] cannot [abuse] a federal program to circumvent state laws designed to protect property owners.  The ruling effectively closes what the Nevada Highway Patrol…argued was a legal loophole, allowing [cops] to s[teal] property…and [give] it [to the feds, who then refund] 80% of [it to the criminal cops]…The case stemmed from the 2021 [robbery] of retired Marine Stephen Lara’s life savings…[because cops claimed] Lara was following a semi-truck too closely…Lara fought for [year]s to reclaim his money…[until] the court [finally]…concluded that Nevada’s civil forfeiture laws are mandatory, leaving no room for federal workarounds…IJ Attorney Brian Morris [said] “This decision is a wake-up call to other states that have allowed police to skirt their laws by pretending that the federal government’s ‘equitable sharing program’ is a legal loophole”…

Virtual Imperialism (#1306)

It’s long past time Beijing’s campaign to police Chinese people in the US was shut down:

Chen Jinping…of New York [City has]…pleaded guilty…to conspiring to act as an illegal agent of the [Chinese] government…[by] operating an undeclared [Chinese] police station…in lower Manhattan…[an act which constituted] “a clear affront to American sovereignty”…said Assistant Attorney General Matthew G. Olsen…

License to Rape

Police states define the bodies of all citizens as “crime scenes” which can be violated by “authorities” at will:

A suburban New York [cop shop sexually] violated residents…[routinely] making illegal arrests [in order to commit sexual assaults it called] strip and cavity searches…a new…[DoJ] report on…[the] misconduct…in Mount Vernon, just north of New York City, is one of 12 investigations opened by the DOJ into local policing agencies since 2021…No single [sexual assault] prompted the investigation…but the [sexual violation] of two [elderly] women…[was a typical and representative example, excused by rapist cops barfing the word “]drugs[” at]…the women…After an internal investigation found that the [rapist cops] had lied [to justify the assault, they were not charged for their crime but instead merely]…docked a few vacation days…Until at least the fall of 2022, it was the Mount Vernon [rape gang]’s practice to [molest and violate] every person it arrested…[sometimes] also s[exually assaulting] people they did not [even bother to falsely accuse of crimes]…

To Molest and Rape (ROTW #11)

Hey, female cops; how’s that collaboration with the police state working out?

The NYPD’s [biggest costumed pig has] abruptly resigned…after…[it was dis]covered…that he demanded sexual favors from a subordinate in exchange for massive amounts of overtime…Jeffrey Maddrey[, a close friend of rapist Mayor Eric Adams,] stepped down soon after…Quathisha Epps…[reported] that he routinely preyed upon her…in a [deal for her scamming]…roughly $204,000 in overtime…last year…Epps…worked for Maddrey as he moved up in the NYPD from Chief of Housing to Chief of Patrol, but…his sexual demands didn’t start until June 2023 when he landed as Chief of Department…When she started to try to get away from Maddrey recently, Epps was outed on a list…in retaliation…and is being investigated over the excessive overtime…Maddrey [previously preyed upon another sow named]…Tabitha Foster [who] filed an unsuccessful 2016 civil suit…

Do As I Say, Not As I Do (#1476)

It’s too bad cops don’t spend all of their time fantasy role-playing with each other:

A [California screw named]…Anthony Michael Russo…died by suicide at his home…[after he propositioned and sent porn to another cop fantasy role-playing]…as a 15-year-old [on the internet.  His boss then made a big show of crocodile tears over the predictable result of his entrapment scheme]…

To Molest and Rape (#1479)

Cops should not be allowed anywhere near legal minors:

A [typical and representative]…Wyoming [cop] is facing two felony sex charges [for] sexually abus[ing] multiple children [as young as 6].  Myron Chatwin could face up to 40 years in prison and $20,000 in fines if convicted…

And yes, that includes their bosses:

The people of Maypearl [Texas] trusted Police Chief Kevin Coffey.  Few were aware that Maypearl was the eighth [cop shop] that Coffey had worked at in 11 years.  Fewer knew that there was a trail of accusations and secrets in his past.  And none could have predicted the destruction he would wreak in their town.  The kids would eventually call him The Creeper.  The adults would denounce him as a monster.  The prosecutors who put him away for child sexual abuse would describe him as a master manipulator “who groomed the community”…

To Molest and Rape (ROTW #15)

When will the mainstream media admit that pigs in schools are a menace?

A [typical and representative] Scranton [Pennsylvania cop named]…Stephen Carroll sexually assaulted multiple students while he was [paid to lurk in schools in order to spy on, harass, and intimidate students]…four of [his victims] were underage…[and] Carroll…drugg[ed] some of the[m in order to rape them more easily]…

No Escape (#1498)

Much, much more of this, please:

The US Bureau of Prisons (BoP) has agreed to pay $115m to more than 100 [victims] of [serial rape by screws and other staff]…at FCI Dublin…[AKA] the “rape club”…Victims who came forward to report the abuse have been fighting for years for protections and accountability.  Seven former Dublin employees, including the warden…and…chaplain, have been criminally convicted of sexual crimes, and more than 20 other employees were [rewarded with paid vacations]…The settlement appears to be the largest single payout in BoP history…and…includes a proposed consent decree…[which] covers nearly 500 class members who are…now [cag]ed in other prisons.  The consent decree stipulates that the the bureau will be subject to continued outside monitoring and will…limit the use of solitary confinement…and release eligible plaintiffs to home confinement and community programs “as soon as practicable”.  Survivors of the Dublin [atrocities] shipped to other prisons [like cattle] have reported continued…retaliation and…[denial of] access [to] trauma recovery services…some of the victims were targeted because they were not US citizens and…face ongoing deportation risks…

I find paywalls distasteful, and so many people find this blog valuable as a resource I just can’t bring myself to install one.  Furthermore, I find ad delivery services (whose content I have no say over) even more distasteful.  But as I’m now semi-retired from sex work, I can’t self-sponsor this blog by myself any longer.  So if you value my writing enough that you would pay to see it if it were paywalled, please consider subscribing; there are four different levels to fit all budgets.  Or if that doesn’t work for you, please consider showing your generosity with a one-time donation; you can Paypal to maggiemcneill@earthlink.net or else email me at the same address to make other arrangements.  Thanks so much!

The Last Shall Be First (#1242)

Looking-glass politicians claim cutting a window into a bathroom “adds privacy”:

A[n]…elected school board…in [Pennsylvania have now designated]…five different types of bathrooms…[on] the…[advice of] a Christian law firm…the board approved spending $8,700 to cut windows so passersby can look into the so-called “gender-identity” student bathrooms…[claim]ing that the windows help “[add] privacy in the toilet facility” and that they “increase oversight of the wash area”…[this] is an intimidation tactic designed to make sure students who use the so-called “gender-identity” facilities…know they’re being watched, controlled and judged…

Thought Control (#1391)

Surely you didn’t think this crusade would stop with libraries and the internet?

[Authoritarian busybodies] are [once again trying to use]…Texas’ obscenity laws…[to ban] sex toys.  The [puritans] are [now claiming] colorful boxes…[only] appeal to children…[and a delusional nitwit named Christin Bentley spastically barfed out non sequiturs about toothbrushes, relativity and libraries while claiming]…”children” are…employees…of [drugstores]…

You Were Warned (#1439)

Politicians keep openly trying to destroy the internet:

Hillary Clinton said on CNN  this weekend that repealing Section 230 of federal communications law should be a top political priority…politicians hate Section 230 precisely because it makes it more difficult for them to censor [or otherwise control] what is said online…Clinton makes [it] sound like [not holding platforms responsible for content they didn’t create is] some sort of aberration or anomaly.  But…if a person on private property engages in speech that is somehow criminal, we don’t hold the property owner liable.  If people use the telephone to hatch criminal plans, we don’t arrest the phone company.  If I use a Sharpie and to write you a threatening letter and then send it in the mail, you can’t sue the makers of Sharpie or the U.S. Postal Service…Clinton went on to make the ridiculous but all too common suggestion that social media companies aren’t actively monitoring and moderating content. “If the platforms—whether it’s Facebook or Twitter…or Instagram or TikTok, whatever they are—if they don’t moderate and monitor the content, we lose total control,” she said…

The last two words of Clinton’s quote spell out exactly what politicians want for the internet.

Thought Control (#1462)

As I’ve said many times, the urge to censor is a mental illness:

As [authoritarians] spread the book-banning movement across the nation, Utah has quickly arisen as one of the most dystopian states…The state recently passed a law that allows it to enact statewide book bans…and…The Utah [Ministry] of [Truth] also suggested adding a stipulation…that would’ve required teachers to burn the books banned statewide…the state’s…politicians and [their henchmen] recently held a book-banning party to…demand that authors “repent” for writing books….[so] the fact that they’re now targeting Little Free Libraries is hardly surprising.  If there’s one thing book banners have proven time and time again, it’s that they never stop…unless they successfully ban and destroy every book they dislike nationwide.  First, they claimed they just wanted to take “inappropriate” books from schools and classrooms, but then they started targeting public libraries.  Then, they began targeting book fairs and book awards and even went after Girl Scouts’ projects.  Their next step is preventing citizens from exchanging books and maintaining Little Free Libraries on their private property…

Torture Chamber (#1462)

Your “leaders” call this “correction”:

Michael Broadway [died of an asthma attack triggered by extreme overheating while locked in a cage by the State of Illinois]…His history of severe asthma was well-documented, and prison medical staff had prescribed him medications for the condition.  Yet [a] nurse instead twice administered…Narcan as she yelled [“Stop faking!”] at Broadway…Th[is obscene excuse for] medical care…is [typical] for the nearly 30,000 people [locked in cages] by the Illinois Department of [Torturing Caged Humans (IDOTCH).  Contractor] Wexford Health Sources…has long [flagrantly]…neglect[ed] and abuse[d victims]…providing such poor treatment to older people with dementia that court monitors [described] it [as] elder abuse…Nonetheless, earlier this year, [IDOTCH] inked a 5-year, $4 billion contract with Wexford [thanks to rampant corruption in State bureaucracy]…

The Cop Myth (#1475)

Cop deals with disagreement exactly as he’s trained and paid to, and everyone claims to be shocked:

A [typical and representative Houston cop named]…Jonathan Torres…was charged with assault…[after he] slammed a laptop shut on his wife’s hands, causing “visible injury”…then told her she was going to jail and…[forcibly] handcuff[ed]…her…he…[then dragged]…her to…the ground…[sat] on her stomach and threatened to tase her if she did not comply with his commands…The wife was “crying and screaming for help”…Torres…was arrested but is [currently at large, apparently after posting bail]…

Also note the attempt to pretend this is atypical by calling him a “rookie”.

Paying the Bills

Two weeks ago, I told y’all that I’m facing a projected $3000 shortfall for my annual operating budget, and asked for help making up that difference.  Well, several of my loyal readers have already stepped up, generously helping me to the tune of $700.  So now I’m only facing a $2300 shortfall; if you aren’t yet a subscriber, won’t you please consider becoming one?  A $1/day subscription would take $90 off of that total, and other levels would help in proportion.  Or if you’re already a subscriber but can spare some extra right now, I’d really appreciate it; it would be great if I can catch up by my birthday!

Monsters

Words fail me in the face of such barbarity:

A Western Pennsylvania man…[named] DaShawn Watkins…is facing…charges [for the murder and dismemberment] of 14-year-old Pauly Likens…[a trans girl] missing since June 22…Police…found dismembered human remains…in and around…Shenango River Lake…the cause of death was ruled to be a sharp force trauma to the head, and…surveillance footage, social media records and cellular phone records found that Likens appeared “to be on the phone and waiting to meet someone near the canoe launch area”…footage also captured Watkins making several trips out of his apartment carrying multiple bags, and driving to his apartment in the vehicle seen near the crime scene.  Multiple locations in Watkins’ apartment tested positive in a preliminary blood test…

Creepy Coppers

Another of the people the government empowers to police your sexuality:

[A typical and representative] St. Tammany Parish [cop named] Christopher Cassidy pleaded guilty to [189 charges related to child & animal] pornography…[and] was sentenced to 15 years in prison for each count without…parole [plus condemnation to the] sex offender [registry] for…25 years [if he somehow manages to survive 2835 years in prison]…

Eggs and Bacon (#1348)

Kansas courts aren’t allowing politicians to circumvent the will of the voters:

The Kansas Supreme Court [has] reaffirmed abortion protections in the state’s Constitution…striking down [attempt]ed laws that banned a common second-trimester abortion procedure and created additional licensing requirements for abortion clinics…The rulings were the latest setbacks for [forced-birth pro]ponents in Kansas, a…state that has…recently [confounded Manicheans who insist that all voters in every state are partisan robots who unfailingly obey both their “leaders” and the expectations of the New York Times]…

Artificial “Intelligence”?

There is no part of this reeking pile of shit that fails to be stupid, so I’ll just comment instead of quoting it.  1) Things that are not alive cannot commit suicide.  2) “Cyborg” is not a synonym for “robot”; a cyborg has living parts.  3) A robot cannot be an “officer”.  4) A malfunctioning machine tumbling down a flight of stairs does not constitute a “jump”.  5) If a machine is observed malfunctioning and nothing is done, it’s no surprise if the situation worsens.  6) For a malfunctioning machine to break is not a “tragedy”.  7) A machine has neither mind nor personality and therefore cannot be “depressed”.  8) I think it highly unlikely that this robot was actually “unique” in any way.  9) Anyone who issued a “civil service officer card” to a piece of office equipment should be sacked for incompetence.  10) Robots cannot be “diligent” (see #7).  11) Too many technology reporters know nothing about technology.  12) What is possible in fantasy movies is in no way reflective of reality.

The Red Umbrella (#1414)

As long as sex work is marginalized, sex workers will be targeted for violence:

Two sex workers were violently assaulted in Edmonton [Alberta by]…a man [who] contacted both women through a website and arranged to meet them [early on July 6th]…At around 7 a.m…he attacked [the first victim, leaving her]…significantly injured and…unconscious…he [then] arranged to meet [the second victim]…around 7:50 a.m…the[n]…violently attacked…her…[leaving her] unconscious…[and stealing her] wallets, identification, cash and cell phones…detectives believe there may be more victims…

Torture Chamber (#1445)

I’m sure they helpfully yelled “Stop faking!” at him every time he coughed:

S[crews] at Brooklyn’s [abominable federal jail] ignored a…[prisoner]’s cancer diagnosis for months, letting a mass in his lungs grow to double its size while he coughed up enough blood to fill a milk carton…Terrence Wise…is [only] the latest [human being] subjected to what defense attorneys and judges describe as grievous medical mistreatment…[including a prisoner] who couldn’t use a CPAP machine for 85 days because the jail didn’t provide an extension cord, another…whose broken cheek had to be re-broken because the jail defied a judge’s order for treatment [until] it…improperly healed, and yet another who waited more than three months for emergency surgery for a twisted bowel…staff [also] lied about giving a…[prisoner] his antibiotics after his appendix burst…and…defied [another judge’s] order to send a…[prisoner] with a severe contagious MRSA infection to a hospital.  Instead, the[y just forced their victim into] a yellow jumpsuit to single him out as sick…

A Moral Cancer (#1450)

Crypto-moralists want the gullible to be afraid of even moderate alcohol consumption:

A[nother crypto-moralist] has [claim]ed that even moderate drinking can reduce life expectancy, [repeat]ing [scary tales prohibitionists have been pushing for two years]…Dr. Tim Stockwell, a [pseudo]scientist at the Canadian Institute for [Coming up with “]Research[” to Reinforce What Prohibitionists Want You To Believe], [made] the [absurdly-specific universal claim] that consuming an average of two drinks per week over a lifetime can shorten one’s life by 3 to 6 days.  One drink per day, seven a week, can cut life expectancy by 2 1/2 months…

The puritanical notion that lifelong deprivation of pleasure in the vague hope of adding a few extra minutes of senility and decrepitude to the far end of one’s old age – a time one has only a 50% chance of reaching in the first place, statistically – is so alien to my way of thinking, I’ve never been able to wrap my head around it, even as a concept for consideration.
